Hello all
Can anyone help me to find out as much as is available about my Canadian 1910 T ?
The engine # is 33485 however there is some doubt about about the 8 which could be a 3 as its unclear.
I'm trying to find out if there are any records whatsoever that show body style & number / color / accesories etc.. Long shot i know but any information will help me complete the restoration this year.
Thank you. Alan in Western Australia
Alan,
#33485 would be November 1910. Would this not be a 1911 model?
Are you sure this chassis came with a Canadian body. The list I have for export to Austrailia for fiscal year 1911/12 shows 1,157 chassis but zero passenger cars. During the same time period 586 passenger cars and zero chassis were exported to New Zealand.
Sorry,
I do not have info on fiscal 1910/11
Where's Hap? lol...
Ok, by the numbers for dribs and drabs...
Many of the 334xx engines were engines only built by USA and exported to Walkerville. And yes, it was in November. Probable chance an invoice copy still exists at BFM as this serial # is near the John Wannamaker Delivery cars and they have been reconstructed as to paperwork...
I'd defer to Steve on the export numbers from Walkerville but they are also contained complete in "In the Shadow of Detroit' as a nice reference (just not handy for me at moment)...
I 'think' but would defer to one of our Aussie friends that it has pretty much been determined that Duncan & Frasier did all of the body work for the era we are talking about?
Just fodder for the puzzle..
Steve, some of the later 1910 Cars were shipped to Australia via Engine only to Canada or Chassis To Canada, Complete Touring & Roaster built in USA as RHD and paperwork via Canada. Doubt the complete cars went to Canada then Australia, only on paper. These cars are around the 30,000 to 33,500 mark.

Alan,
To my knowledge at the moment we do NOT have a nice list of what Ford Canada shipped [well 1908 and earlier we do have access to a nice listing]. We are sure the 1909-19xx list did exist at one time and we are working with others to try and track down where it might currently be located. Of course it may not exist any longer but we are hoping it is tucked away some where and can be located.
You are located in Australia, and if the car was originally imported through normal channels back in 1910 and more likely 1911 based on the engine serial number, then it would have been a Canadian produced car using the American engine and transmission assembly. According to Bruce's listing on page 491 of his book also available on his CD -- 34,500 was an Engine only shipped to Canada on Dec 13, 1910. No, that is not your engine, but Bruce was doing every 100th entry because there were so many entries by 1910. Base on that your engine would have shipped from the USA plant to Canada around the same time frame. As mentioned above, that would mean the car is most likely a 1911 rather than a 1910. If you have remains of the body -- that could help determine what year the body style was. But from your question, I would assume you have only the engine and/or chassis -- is that correct?
The book "In the Shadow of Detroit" is available on line at: http://books.google.com/books?id=THOyZ5JwkEQC&printsec=frontcover&dq=In+the+shad ow+of+detroit&hl=en&sa=X&ei=XALGT9rMKY2a8gTR9qS0Bg&ved=0CDcQ6AEwAA#v=onepage&q=I n%20the%20shadow%20of%20detroit&f=false and on page 68 it does only list chassis for the years 1911-12 which would be the Fiscal year 1 Aug 1911 to 31 Jul 1912 which would NOT include your car/engine unless it was delayed for 5 - 6 months or so. I do NOT have a listing of what was or was not imported/shipped from Canada in the FY 1 Aug 1910 to 31 Jul 1911. Does anyone else know if the records (written or fossil) indicate that complete cars were shipped during that time frame? And of course is it possible that the chart in the book should really show 1,157 cars rather than chassis and no cars shipped the 1 Aug 1911 to 31 Jul 1912?
I need to run to work (it gets in the way of research but it pays the food bill etc.).
I'm looking forward to what is discovered.
Respectfully submitted,
