I recently purchased a 1927 Model T Truck, not happy with the vaporizer. Can you put a regular intake and manifold on it? I don't see a place for the throttle linkage through the block.
You would need a vaporizor to NH carb linkage kit 6299CL, available from Langs 39.95.
you can cut a hole in the valve cover and in the center of the block and use the throttle linkage. I have that on both of my 26 T's I use a Holly NH on one and a Kingston L4 on the other. Only noticeable difference is the Holly needs more choking to start and the Kingston only choke for a second. After they are started both run just fine.

The link on the throttle lever will have to be moved down to connect with carb if you go through the block.
Why are you not happy with the vaporizer? If clean and no vacuum leaks they run fine.
My 1927 is a very late 1927. It has the web between #2 and #3 intact and it has a valve cover with no hole. This was done on cars which came with vaporizers which work the throttle over the head.
I have kept my car that way since that is a very unusual set-up. You can easily punch the web out like they did on most of the 15 million other cars and then install a valve cover which has the hole drilled. Then throw on the standard manifold and an NH so that your T will look like all the other ones and be less original.
Another approach (which I am currently doing on my car) is to make up a linkage which runs over the top and down to the carburetor. I can run an NH that way but am currently running a Stromberg RF.
In my opinion (note: this is not what I am currently doing) the best choice is to just fix the vaporizer carby and keep it original. I had my vaporizer running well without having to touch it for about 14 years. I'm not running it right now because I do recognize (from personal experience) that a poorly running vaporizer can be a real pain to deal with.
That said, years ago I went through my Holley Vaporizer and got it running almost as well as a NH, I just don't feel like making the effort just now... because I wanted to see how a Stromberg would perform. ... Yes the Strom is nice, but mine isn't enough better than the vaporizer to justify the switch... I guess I will put fixing the vaporizer and putting it back on the car on to my "to do " list!

Gary,
I forgot to mention that in your switch you will have to add a bell crank to the bottom of the throttle rod on the steering column. This is because the vaporizer cars had the bell crank up on the top by the firewall.
If you don't want to that surgery to the car then you either have to make a simple over the head linkage or fix the vaporizer.

When I first installed my vaporizor, I was in and out of it a half dozen times. Finally got is right and have had no problems for the last 10 years. Stick with it.
I appreciate everyones input on the vaporizer. I just purchased the truck and it seems to not run as well as the 26 with the NH.
Thanks Again
