After many years of trying to convince (without luck) my wife I could support my T habit with a T, I proved her wrong three years ago. This will be the forth 4th of July I will spend the day making money and making people fat and happy.

With my Pie Wagon "Mother Thomas's Pie Shop" and the many July 4th parades and parade route picnics in town, I sell pies out of the back prior to parades. Here in a couple weeks my mom and I will start making pies from a recipe of a great-grandmother. Cherry, Strawberry-rhubarb, Apple, mincemeat pies. Each year we have had to double our pie count.

I hand out bit size samples and sell them in whole pies and a smaller pies for kids and the Ladies. They are happy, I am happy. Believe it or not, my wife likes the money also. :-)

Tyrone - amid some of the embarrasing arguments and back stabbing on the forum - you send a wonderful heartwarming story - I love what you are doing and I hope you have wonderful success! I bet you can make a mean sweet potato pie too - they are my favorites! - how about a photo of your pie wagon on the 4th this year coming up?

Business expansion idea. Freeze your pies. Pack and ship them on dry ice with baking instructions. I bet there are other T-ers who like pie.

I tried calling but that number doesn't work anymore. Seriously, that is fantastic. I only wish you were in my town so I could help support your cause. Everyone knows a pie tastes better after traveling in the back of a T.

MMm Rhubarb Pie--where do I go????? Only thing better (rhubarb wise) is stewed rhubarb w/ice cream.
Now then, a Lemon Meringue pie would be good too. . . . (But, I can make one of those---there just isn't any rhubarb around here-the deer keep eating the plants!!!

To one and all:
Try a gooseberrie pie or cobbler and see what a hit they will be. I just returned from a 5700 mile visit to the Midwest and while there made three cobblers wit gooseberries and I have to say they were a hit. MY cobbler recipe was a hand down from my late Aunt. For a fee I will list it, naw just kidding. They are really great though. Last count in the deep freeze enough to make 17 cobblers and the new crop of berries are going to be ready ion about 10 days.

Haven't had gooseberries in decades. My grandparents had a bush at either end of the garden.

Sorry for the drift Tyrone (and love your combining of passions) but does anyone remember hiking along and picking teaberries? Teaberry gum?
