Is there a special wheel puller for a Buffalo Wheel Hub? The Buffalo hub is installed over the Model T wheel hub and bolted to the brake drum. You can't use a standard Model T wheel puller. I had removed before with a little persuasion but it doesn't want to let loose now. Tried driving with axle nut loose but no luck yet. Will try some heat but thought I would ask if there was special puller?
Yes there was a factory hub puller. First attachment shows Buffalo catalog section on pullers, a different one for each type of hub. Second attachment is one example, this is for a #5 Houk. They are hourglass shaped with right hand threads on one end and left on the other of course! They are all rather rare and I have never seen one for the T Buffalo ( House) wires wheel hubs so had 2 pullers made, L and R.
By the way, your setup is a conversion of a hub from another make of car. Originally the axle taper was machined right into the same casting as the hubcap threads, knuckle drive and brake drum flange. Works fine and commonly done.
Thanks Layden - nice to see the ones listed for Rudge Whitworth such as 52mm.
Likewise - thanks for posting that information and photos !
