Thinking about converting my headlights to mag powered lights on my 13. I checked the voltage and it was under 1 volt dc but around 17 volts ac. What bulbs do I need ? Can I use something from my local parts store ?
They make special bulbs just for the magneto headlights. Check out Snyder's bulbs:

Unfortunately, you won't be able to find anything local that will work, unless you are REALLY lucky!
above post is 100% correct. only problem is the lights are nearly useless unless you have your engine reved up... still something i would do if i had a non electrified T
I didn't go out on the road and try to drive with the magneto lights, but they make a pretty good picture.
Great picture Steve! good looking ford at dusk!

Do you have a battery for starting? If so, either six or twelve volts would work. I have a 12v battery on my 1915 and a 6 v on 1919 non-electric 1919. Both care run on coils, but I use the battery just for starting and headlights.
If you use a 12 v battery you can wire the headlights in series with 6v bulbs, or parallel with 16 v. If your battery is 6v I'sd suggest you use 6v parallel.
I have some bulb numbers somewhere I can share with you for high intensity 6v and 12v bulbs that will fit double contact headlight bulbs.

Does anybody actually have one of the replacement vendor magneto lamps handy? If so, could you send me a PM?
I have a curiosity to ask.
Thanks.
I make them, Bob
