I'm posting this in the hope that some might be familiar with how the motors on a typical Klaxon Horn might be wired.
The horn shown below was purchased at Chickasha.
I couldn't find any identifying marks. Other than a wiring problem it appears to be in very good shape.
The question is: are these motors series or shunt wound?
There are two stator coils and both appear to be double wound and with the current configuration would appear to be series connected. But that may be because someone started to rewire it incorrectly. Below is the best shots I could take of the wiring.

This looks like a 1970s "J. C. Whitney" horn. And yes, it appears that someone has been rewiring the fields. AFAIK, they were originally just plain wound.
It could be 6 volt or 12 volt!

I'm surprised that they were making Klaxons as late as the 70's!
I finally got her going. It did turn out to be series wound with the communtator in between the two field coils.
Its LOUD! I own several Klaxon's besides this one and this one is louder by a factor of two!
