On Monday June 18 I will get to drive my Model T in the production of Thoroughly Modern Millie at the Muny Opera here in Forest Park. The wife and I are excited about this. The Muny is an out door theater so yes they want me to start it and drive it on stage. I am supposed to be in the first scene and the last scene. Only bit parts but it should be fun.
I am going to diaper the car to prevent the oil leaks from dripping on stage.
We won't find out exactly what we are to do till we get to the rehearsal on Saturday June 16th. This is an 8 night and one afternoon commitment so we will probably be glad when it is over, but who knows.
So if you are in St. Louis and have tickets for Thoroughly Modern Millie at the Muny, look for us in our bit parts
Thanks
Steven
Type casting. That touring is the perfect car for that show.
Depends????????
I know you will have fun. We had our 1914 in a photo shoot with the actors this last summer. The location was a mansion on Summit Avenue in St. Paul and of course they took many pictures and I even got in as an extra in some of the shots. They used the pictures in playbills, brochures and website to promote the show "Ragtime" which played at the Park Square Theater last winter. We received tickets for the show so took our sons and their wives and it was great fun. On stage they used a mock up of a Model T as it would have been impossible to use a real one I am sure you will have a great experience.

Depends on what?
I was given a big piece of some matting that is put under diesel locomotives when they are parked. I have a piece under the car as it sits in the garage and you can't believe how much it soaks up. I will wire some of that to the bottom of the engine and transmission
Steven
The best thing to use under cars for oil leaks is tar paper.
It can be rolled up and reused again.
If you change the oil first it will be easier to clean up if any drips on the stage.
That's awesome Steve. My T always starts right up when it doesn't matter....it would make me nervous to require it to fire up on demand.
You will have a blast. Please have someone take a photo or two if you can.
Vince
We will try to get some pictures. They gave us 8 tickets so my kids and my Mom will be going and if aloud pictures will be taken.
Steven.
I just checked the Muny web site, Photos not allowed.
Steven, talk to your contacts there. I'm sure they'd allow some kind of photos, even if just during rehearsal. It's also possible that non-flash photos are okay. Maybe they will take photos that they will make available to you.
They said that there will be a photographer taking pictures at the rehearsal on the 16th. I will try to get some pictures from him.
Steven
Thats just way too cool. Love the muny. Havent been for a couple of years. Really neat they want you to drive it on stage.
Back in 1976 I was a student with no money to spare. The rear of the top section of audience seats was separated from the paying seats down below. The shows were just as good up in the free seats. I remember seeing Yul Brenner in " King and I" in what I think was his final run.
Great theater, will you put the top up if it rains?
Terry
earlier this year I had my 15 touring in my schools production of Ragtime
good thing I have friends I can trust in theater because I was playing banjo in the pit while they were moving it
