I need some idea how the rear passenger dome light switch was mounted and what the original switch trim looked like. If possible can someone with a fordor take a picture of the fixture? From what I can gather from the switch it is wired to the ground wire and the positive goes directly to the light connector..is this correct? Sorry to be a pain but I'm in process of running the wiring and don't want to mess it up...thank you !!!!
Can't help with the wiring Don, but this is the switch off a 26 Fordor. I believe this car belings to a member here Jim Patrick
Don, You are correct that the switch grounds to the body or window frame molding near the switch pillar. The hot side goes to the light. Somewhere I have seen a wiring schematic that I think shows the dome light wiring and I'll look for it. In the mean while, I have a 26 fordor with the upholstery out and if I take a picture of the pillar, it will at least show the ground wire. The headliner is still in the car, so I can't get a picture of the dome light end.
Schematic is at http://www.mtfca.com/discus/messages/179374/241715.html?1319991888
I sent it to Don via PM.
Don't take any shortcuts by leaving any of the existing wire, (if there is any), in place.
I came close to loosing my grandfather's Fordor when the dome light wire shorted out inside the "A" pillar. Luckily, the smoke started pouring out while I was driving the car but it could have happened during the night & in the garage with 3 other antique cars parked around it.
Thanks to all, I am rewiring completely. The old switch is still in good working condition and I plan to reuse it. The cover was missing and so was the piece of trim for the interior trim. This helps completely and I am forever in your debt. THANK YOU>>
