Many of us remember a former regular whose posts were often belligerent and insulting to anyone who disagreed with him. He drove at least one good man off the forum, and probably others, before he finally disappeared in a blaze of nastiness. I don't miss him, and I doubt that anybody else does either.

In recent months we've had some other examples of hostile posts. A few people have told me offline that it turns them off enough to keep them from participating.

Fortunately the individuals who are still in middle school emotionally, and most vociferous in demonstrating it, are also small in number.

I would urge all the good folks who are thinking of letting a few yahoos drive them away to think again. I, for one, have no intention of going anywhere. I wouldn't give the boors the power or the satisfaction of chasing me off.

I'll end with a brief description of one of our long-time regulars: unfailingly positive, polite, kind, encouraging, and helpful. I bet a lot of you are thinking of the same name I am. That's the example all of us should try to follow.

I'm with you, Steve. If I let a horse's heiny drive me off the forum that just means the heiny has won by keeping me from something I want do do. Not a chance. You guys are stuck with me.

I don't get involved in many of the fights but sometimes enjoy reading them for the entertainment value.

Why can't we just fuss and fight about water pumps? :-) :-) :-)

Thank you Steve.
Excellent advice.
Others have hinted at their discomfort.
You said what we all needed to hear.

Well,I hope I can be welcomed back into the fold.
I feel like I may have said what I thought and folks took it wrong or whatever.
I aint a bad person,But sometimes I do say what is on my feeble mind before I take time to think.

Thank you Steve. To me, the long time regular you refer to brought you to mind, (the positive upbeat one, not the other one you mentioned), ;>). I think I know who you mean however.

"...sometimes I do say what is on my feeble mind before I take time to think..."

We are all guilty of that sometimes Mack.

WELL SAID Steve.
I have just returned to this forum for about the 3rd time in 9 years.
My activity here is governed by both, my present interest in my T AND by how comfortable I feel here.
I will admit that the last time I left the forum,(about 2 years back) it was because there was one or two bullies on these pages. This experience also slowed down my T activity here at home, indicating a happy MTFCA forum member is a happy T driver/owner.
If it wasnt for this forum, "Anastasia's" restoration most definitely would NOT have met the deadline set by my daughter, way back in 2004. Thanks (for the umpteenth time) to all those of you who were active here, back in 2003/4 who helped me make that deadline and thanks again Steve, for the "spot on" words.
Rob

Steve you have explained why I don't post much.
Thanks for the thoughts.
I tried to help a fellow out and it was at best sour. He did PM me and thanked me and said he was sorry it went the way it did and I helped him get to the bottom of his problem (he was not the cause). I'm not much for pissing matches.
Lurking seems to be non-controversial.
We all pay the price. It will get better.
Thanks again.

I have certainly backed off my former frequency of posting in the last year or so. I get tired of he petty bitching that goes on. I had over 1000 postings on the old forum and maybe 35 or so on the new one.

As an example, the kerfufle over Garrett, leave him alone! If you are ticked off about his postings, ignore them, don't read his responses. If someone complains online about him, it show me how petty that person is.

If I have an issue with someone, I quite often will P M him and we will settle it between ourselves. I'm not exactly a newbie. My first T was purchased in 1943 and I was a line mechanic from '49 to '54 in a dealership.

Sincerely

Jim Weir

Steve,
Is it Hap? He is such a "rabble rouser"! (kidding, Hap)

Sorry, I couldn't resist. Seriously, Jerry is a friend (and Early Ford guy, you should all join), and Chip is a new friend, and I hate to see the divisiveness that our last "issue" caused. Let's remember we're able to disagree without parting company.

I'm on the road, and on my 3rd wine, so I can say this. BTW Ron, I was in KY but didn't get to your place (lucky you).

Rob

When we were kids, us neighborhood boys would get in a knock down drag out fight. And then, go get something to eat with each other. It was the girls that started the cat fight that would linger forever unable to work out their differences.

Very well said, Steve J, as usual. Sorry to say, you fine people will probably be stuck with me for some time yet. I like this place.
And when I consider the quintessential nice guy on here, I think of Steve J. Although Hap is definitely right there with him.
I do get opinionated, but I also stay away from threads if they start getting out of hand.
Again, thank you, Steve, for your levelheadedness, and perfect words. You are a scholar, and a gentleman.
Drive carefully, and enjoy, W2
