Dug a lot of excess stuff I'll never use out of the shed and my lovely wife and I will be setting up a booth at the Auburn Swap Meet this Sunday in Auburn California. I'd love to meet some of you Forum members in person. I'll be wearing an engineer's cap and a name tag on my bib's. See you there!!

Oh, WAIT; PIES at the Meet!!! Lemon Meringue. . . . Mmmmmm.
Oh yeah, car parts too. . .
(Priorities, you know!)
Not sure what I'll have on, probably a Hawaiian shirt and a straw hat (if I remember the hat). I may miss you as I really focus on parts, not folks the first few times through!
T'ake care, see you there!
David Dewey

I sure wish I could go! But I am committed to the SCVMTFC Endurance Run. I wish one group or the other could change their weekends. But not both of them like the past two times they changed.
Good luck, and have fun!

I will be there but will not be selling due to a number of things. Family wedding the day before, also a right shoulder injury makes it difficult to load parts and drive my 12 speed TT dump. First time as a spectator in 27 years. I will be assisting Mr. Ron Brown, Sr. In getting one of his T's there for sale and selling off some of his parts. Don't miss this great T swap meet.
Fordially, Erik

Well, now we've heard from "the four musketeers" so we'll all be there! (Wayne, Terry, Erik, & Me).
PAAARTY!!!
But don't get between me and a slice of Lemon Meringue pie!!
Heh heh heh!

AAARRRGGHH!!!!
Be careful what you wish for!
I was preparing to load the boat-tail for the trip down to the Endurance Run as I headed up the hill from my house. I had just filled the tires with air (the last thing before loading). Then I heard a loud crack. One could say I have now properly tested the new (old) brakes. They work on the rear wheels directly. I was on a steep grade. Going up. I cut the pinion key in two. Nice to have brakes on a steep hill after you have lost the brakes.
I have taken a break now for dinner. The car is back together after being apart in my driveway most of the day.
Oh well. At least I get to go to a good swap meet. Drive carefully, and enjoy, W2

Wow Wayne, Sounds like you installed the accessory brakes just in the nick of time! I'd buy your guardian angel a good steak dinner and a Cuban cigar for intervening on the grime reaper in your behalf. Sorry to here your missing the endurance run but happy to hear you dodged the bullet.

Best model T meet ever!

We carpooled down to the meet, the weather was perfect. Since we met at K-Mart at 6:00 we figured we had time to stop for coffee and donuts... wrong choice the meet was mobbed and we assumed the best deals were gone....WRONG! It seems that everyone who ever had model T parts is in a hurry to dump them at any cost. at least 30% of the vendors had model T parts, most of them good quality. What do you need, they had it.

I'm putting together a HCT, how does a box of 15 good magnets and 16 keepers and brass screws in a vintage Tin box sound? $5 takes it all, even the broken 16th magnet! Pristine 21" split rim? $20!

I wish I hadn't gotten my wooden wheels at Bakersfield, I could have had almost perfect wheels $35-$50 ea... some with rims!

1913 Black and Brass Headlights for my project... $85! Early front perches with good threads and nuts...$20. Commutator harnesses for the '27 and another for the '13...$10 (for both). Full set of Timkins and races to replace the bad ball races on the '13... $20 for all four corners!

The best part?... got to see Erik and Roger Barret, Dave and Linda Dewey, Layden Butler, Theodore Johnson, Steve Straw, all our "stag tour" friends, Ray Hren, and lots more folks. Several friends who had been ill were there and were in the pink.

I met Jay-in-Northern-California. He let me sling my purchases under his truck so I didn't have to carry them around all morning. When I went back for the parts he had added a CD with thousands of T vintage photos to my pile for free! What a guy... I also discovered that none of the folks who frequent this forum and who attended the meet are as ugly as me!

There were great deals on complete cars, stock or speedster. You could walk down almost any aisle and pick up almost enough stuff to make a running car... and have enough money left to stop at the Auburn In-n-Out.

The worst part of the day is we had to Park very far from the gate due to the massive turnout and then had to rush back to Grass Valley with my ride early.

Now I've already mowed the lawn and still have time to start playing with my parts with some of the nice vintage tools I picked up!

I forgot my phone at home so I couldn't take any photos, maybe someone will post some for me!

Terry

If you do, be sure to help him up again.

LOL! I had a similar experience. People kept telling me that Terry was there, but I looked and never saw him. Ran into David Dewey twice, one time he was with his prettier half, the other time he had to help himself up. Talked to Jay quite a bit. He is as likable in person as he is online. Talked to Ted Johnson and a few other people I have known for awhile.
I will second the report. Other than one Bakersfield meet I went to, more T parts than I have seen anywhere in a long time. I bought quite a bit. All good stuff at very decent prices (a pair of nice brass era rear shackles, $5). I saw so much stuff I wanted, but I just couldn't afford to spend that much more.
I enjoyed visiting with friends, old and new. I still wish I had got to the Endurance Run, but I am laughing about it.
Drive carefully, and enjoy, W2

Dittos here, and yes, I saw both Terry & Wayne, so they were both there. The getting up at 3:30AM after getting to bed at 12:30 AM was the worse part! (Had to work that night).
I spent WAY too much money on stuff. Got the Starter & Generator "stash" from Layden; that may do me very well if I go into the rebuilding trade. . . Picked up lots of coils for $5 each, including one brass top!
I saw the infamous split key--yoicks! Also lots of neat speedsters. Linda stayed in the shade at one couple's space, and they sold their 15 touring--great lookin' deal to me, I think around $5K but needing just a little work to make it drivable. Couldn't talk them into a straight trade for our 15 in parts.Heh heh heh.
Yep, was a great time, and now I know why Terry disappeared so quickly.
Oh yes, had a piece of Lemon Meringue pie too.
While eating it, a guy sat down at the table and we were talkin' T stuff, and he knew a lot of the same folks I knew from 'way back.' Small world!
Time to go find a place to put all this stuff.
Later!
T'
David D.
Jay dropped on of the CDs on me too--still out in the truck, I'll have to bring it in--a gold mine for someone like me locked into a dial-up internet connection.

Terry's report was spot on. The Auburn Swap meet put on by the Mother Lode Model T Club is the best Pre-War meet in all of central and Northern California and the next best thing to the Bakersfield Horseless Carriage meet. If you have never attended this swap meet your missing the boat!!

It was a pleasure meeting fellow Forum members and finally putting faces to names of people here. I wore my MTFCA Forum badge and was pleasantly surprised at how many of you noticed and introduced yourselves. Lots of you mentioned you eagerly tune into the Forum on a daily basis but seldom post. As a regular poster of content here it's encouraging to see that there is a "Silent Majority" of you who enjoy the content provided by the regular posters on this Forum.

I have a bunch of photos I took at the meet to share here and will post them on this thread after I go through and edit them later today.

Jay....Why edit them? There's no such thing as an obscene bit from a swap meet! I'm looking forward to seeing the pics. I used to live in Grass Valley so I'm partial and miss being able to go to the various doings....

I have been really busy playing catch up here and won't be able to work on the show photos to post until tomorrow. In the mean time here's what $375 got me in between being at my booth to meet people and making quick walks around taking photos and looking for things I couldn't live without.

Jay

I went to the Red Deer Alberta Swap meet And the Abbotsford BC also, I agree that there is a silent majority out there. Almost all T people that I talked with didn't belong to any clubs, just a couple-three friends getting together. and they all had more than one T at home. There are a lot more T people out there than we think.

Bob

I saw that bumper for sale... really neat, but when I had a bumper on Rusty I tended to trip on it whilst cranking.

I don't recognize these two things:
magneto drive?
Beats me is it a PTO?

Good to hear the good reports on our swap meet. I am pleased to hear of the good bargains. I spent most of the day behind the food tent barbequing Tri-tip. The Mother Lode Model T Club has been doing this meet for some 36 years and we all enjoy doing it. - John

Terry, I'd also like to know what the drive unit is for. I thought it might be an accessory used on a Fordson.
The other unit is a rather interesting water pump that I'll share in another thread later.

John, What really makes the Auburn Swap meet great is the volume of Pre-War sellers and buyers that it has been known to draw over the years.
I would encourage anyone with Pre-War items they would like to sell to consider setting up a booth space next year. I also enjoy the show because it's a great social venue for meeting fellow Model T and Horseless Carriage friends that you don't always get to see other then at these kind of events.

Hats off to all the Mother Lode Model T Club folks who helped put on another great show this year.
