The forum is back up! Good thing, I was starting to get the shakes.
Don't forget to click the REFRESH button if you still get the bogus page.
I here ya. I didn't know what I was going to do today without the forum to kill time at work
great to be back!
This site is a Chevy...lol
Thanks, Chris.
It's high time to dump these turkeys, while the Forum is up and running. I've been real happy with CanvasDreams.org, a Portland outfit.
Mike Stitt, after reading your comment I was thinking more of the F.O.R.D. acronym
fix or repair daily
... seems to fit our website better.
I have been taking all your comments and suggestions on board regarding the website and hosting options.
This is now my priority after getting back from Nepal and our trek to Everest base camp.
Also regarding the shut down, it is a monitoring program that shuts the website down, not a person, so they can't really tell me what or who was causing the problem in the first place.
I was backing up the forum to one of my local pcs tuesday/wednesday and maybe this caused the problem. (but it shouldn't have right!)
Chris I appreciate all you do, you work with what you got. Nepal, really? Have a good time.
If Model T forum addicts are frustrated I can't imagine what Chris goes through. Thanks again.
Glad it's back! Thanks Chris.
Thank you Chris. You remind me of Scotty on Star Trek! You truly are "given er all shes got"!
Chris,
You appear to have your acronyms wrong; FORD is First On Race Day
Perhaps you actually meant FIAT which is the acronym for Fix It Again Today.
Or if you want to reference an antique use EMF for Every Month Fix-it
I was beginning to think we got hacked by one of our computer savvy disgruntled webmaster wannabes. . LOL!
Tom,
I thought it was EMF=Every Mechanical Failure,
and FIAT=Fix It Again, Tony
There must be some others out there. . .
Caution!! Thread drift. . . .
Thanks for keeping our DT's away Chris!

While I was shaking when the forum went down I did some surfing about the startlogic company, the company that hosts this site.
What I found at one, not necessarily biased site as they review a lot of sites, surely is not good >>> http://www.hostingsthatsuck.com/startlogic-sucks/ and the word from this one isn't any better >>> http://www.webhostingjury.com/reviews/startlogic
I hope Barbara and others from mtfca read this and talk to Chris about finding a more flexible host.
From what Chris has written here, it sounds as if the Forum may have been the victim of a DoS Attack ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Denial-of-service_attack ). Although sometimes carried out by teenagers, it is not a childish prank, and can get even young offenders jail time and a criminal record. I am not accusing anyone, and the problem may just be an outdated web hosting service, but this is a possibility that should be investigated.
Hopefully we won't have to meet up the morning of July 7th over on the MTFCI, but plan ahead - pack a lunch!

l was missing this all of yesterday, ah solice again.
Thank you so very much, Chris! We could have waited another day or two. At least I could (even though I spend way too much time on here every day and do miss it when it is down).
Chris,
Have a fantastic trip!
Drive carefully, and enjoy, W2
Chris,
Thank you so much for all your help and support!!!!
Respectfully submitted,

Chris, You Da Man! Many Thanks for all you do here!
Thank you Chris!
I‘m glad you got it straightened out Chris – I was just getting a posse together to come and find you!
Thanks once again.

What is a refresh button? I have a Mac and the key board does not have such a button.
The computer doesn't have a refresh, but a webpage does. It's usually in the search bar.
Darel, tell me which browser you're using and I'll tell you where the button is. Firefox, Safari, Netscape, IE?
I use PARCOM for my hosting services. Never been disappointed.
Steve
Did you get the Sedan running yet. Last I saw was you setting in front of it wondering what do I do next.
Next I find that the expansion slot on the "T" piston goes away from the cam. So now that is corrected I have to fit the rings and install them and assembled the engine and put it in and try and get it started. Have a rebuilt starter so I should be ready. Was great to meet you and see all your project pending completion.
Will wait to see your progress.

Completed the trip no problems!!!!!!!

I just can't believe how many lose faith so fast.
F = first
O = on
R = race
D = day
OK Darel, here you go: At the top of your Safari browser there's a white bar. At the left end of that bar is a little blue globe, followed by the internet address of the website you're viewing. At the right end of the address bar is a rectangular button labeled RSS. To the right of that is a little clockwise circular arrow. That little arrow is the REFRESH or RELOAD button. When your browser remembers the StartLogic page and shows it, clicking on that little arrow should erase that memory and bring up the current page. For Firefox users, the REFRESH/RELOAD button is the same as for Safari.
Or for any guys looking for one.
F = found
O - on
R = rubbish
D = dumps
The F5 key is the fasted way to refresh.......
The F5 key is the fastest way to refresh.......
I still don't understand what the reason is for this website failing so much. Never see it any place but here. At least twice a year my profile is lost and I become a newbie again having to fill in part or all of my profile.
Very frustrating!
Jimmy
Jimmy, Did you lose the info in your profile? Lucky for me, mine survived. Jim Patrick

Nothing works for me. Safari takes me to Minnesota MicroNet and there is not a bar as you describe. F5 key does not refresh the site for me. On The club web page I only get the left side list of "pages" and all will work except classifieds which takes me to the host page stating the web site is suspended.
Darel,
Two things;
When you get to the suspended page try refreshing your browser's view to see the current version.
If you can't see the right side list, try zooming out. Hold the Ctrl key down and turn your mouse wheel down.
Jim
Darel's using a Mac, so I doubt there's a mouse wheel. Recently Apple went over to the Dark Side and started using right click/left click, but if it's more than a few months old it doesn't have that complication either.
So here's what I see with Minnesota MicroNet (mm.com) on a Safari window. In the gray area at the top of the browser are the words Minnesota MicroNet in the center. On the left side, in the upper left corner, are the red, yellow, and green buttons. Under those buttons are two little arrows (triangles) pointing left and right for going back or forward to different pages. To the right of those is a button with a plus sign for adding bookmarks. Immediately to the right of that is the white address bar. At the left end of it is a little multicolored drawing of a cube, then the web address (in this case http://mm.com/). At the right end of the white address bar is the little clockwise circular arrow which is the REFRESH/RELOAD button. Clicking on that should get you the current page.
Darel,
Press Open Apple (Command) and R at the same time and that will force he page to reload.
Jim,
To answer your question, no it looks like my profile survived this time. I was not able to sign in to it for at least 24hrs. so I assumed it had happened again. Jimmy
Chris, Thanks for all your work and concern, but as often as this has happened with this outfit, enough is enough. If a better web host costs more, I'd be willing to have the dues raised enough to cover the expense. I was beginning to think that someone's pockets were being padded by the current web host.
My wife and granddaughters are happy the forum is back up because I am not asking them the find something "automotive" on the TV.
Chris - did you get the email about the LA web host?
Enough is enough. Do whatever it takes to fix the Forum. If not fixed it's time for MTFCA to step in and start asking questions why it can't be fixed. Make some changes and move on.
