Here's an unusual one for you electrical buffs out there. I had an enquiry from a fellow Model T owner. He also has this ABC race car that uses a flat twin aero based engine.
Apparently, at some point in the car's history it used a T based ignition system designed by Phil Brin? Has anyone ever heard of him or this system?
I can't think what components from a T would have been used other than the coils.

Take a look at the following links to see the car:

Many thanks,

You could have used the Model T timer with two of the contacts not being used if it is a horizontally opposed two cylinder. Sure sounds like one.

The " Philbrin " ( not a man`s name , not two words ) Ignition System was built as an aftermarket ignition outfit , available from stock or custom built , for most cars on the market during the 1917-1922 period . I believe it was built by the Philbrin Ignition Company . It was similar to the Bosch distributor system in operation , but not interchangeable as to parts .

Thanks Doug. I was thinking it was a person's name! I still can't imagine what Ford parts would have been used unless, as Royce suggests, a timer was used with just two segments. It was indeed a flat twin by the way.

Wow, thanks Art! I'll forward the details and see if it's what he's after. I knew I could rely on the forum to turn something up :-)
