Hello all,

Just recently purchased a 1919 Model T Roadster made into makeshift truck by farmer. I bought it out of state and it will be at my home in a week or two. Needless, to say I am pretty excited to learn how to drive it etc.

The car runs and drives but has been in storage for a year and half. I was wondering if anyone is in the Pittsburgh area that knows these cars well to help me go through it. I would be willing to pay for someone's time and expertise. I do however want to learn. I am pretty mechanically inclined but these cars are obviously different in many aspects.

You can drop me an email if interested.

Thanks!
Ryan

David, thanks for the welcome! Looking forward to learning from all the members on the site. I am currently working on a 1967 390GT Mustang Fastback. I have the body almost ready. That will be my showpiece car. I need another toy to drive around until the stang is done. Who knows I may have so much fun in T that I may keep it.

Ryan:

I sent the following email to the owner in Sacred Heart/Renville, MN last April when he had the car listed on Minneapolis Craigslist:

"I have a list of the early Minnesota Pioneer license plates.

It shows that #686 was originally registered to B.J. Boyum of Peterson, MN (it is listed as a 1919 Ford roadster although the car is actually a cut-off touring). Pioneer #1 was issued in 1953 and they were well over 300 by the end of the year so your pair of 686 plates were probably issued in 1954 or 1955.

I can't look up your Chrysler plates #2305 as my list ends around #2200.

Thought this information may be useful to you if you weren't already aware of it.

I have a 1917 Ford roadster and my dad has antique cars including a 1917 Ford touring which he has owned since 1949. I asked him if he knew Boyum - he said he couldn't recall the name but he did mention another collector in Peterson who had some early brass cars years ago.

Erik Johnson
Minneapolis, MN"

The seller responded that he was aware that the car was previously in Peterson before it was brought to Sacred Heart.

Doing a quick Google search I see that there are a number of people with the last name Boyum living in Peterson, MN. If you are interested in chasing down the history of your car it would be easy call them to see if anyone has any information or photos they could pass on to you.
