Ok so I still have a lot to learn about this hobby. I am looking at a original Warford transmission built in New York. It seems to be in ok condition for it's age. Some gear wear, shifter does not seem to shift the trans(feels sloppy) Thinking of installing into a 1926 TT C-cab flatbed. Are there any repair manuals, parts manuals available? Also are there any replacement parts available? Many thanks in advance for any and all help.

I have been told by the owner that it is a aluminum case Warford

Somehow I wouldn't feel comfortable putting an aluminum case Warford on a TT. It typically has no rear support and the TT has more forces on the transmission. Try the cast iron, *6 speed* version with a support bracket and front universal joint.

Sounds like good advice John, and I can say depending of cost I could be interested Glen. As I said I am unsure of what I am doing at this point. That's the reason I asked about some kind of books. Thanks a million for the reply

If you are wanting your TT to go faster you will need an overdrive transmission an I don't think a Warford can do this. A Ruckstell with the high speed gear is a much better choice for most TT owners. There is also the Drive shaft mounted overdrive units that are also used in the TT's.

Most, not all, Warfords, Muncies (for Fords), and other similar accessory (auxiliary) transmissions for model Ts are an underdrive, direct drive, and overdrive. Any of them, properly mounted, are good for a TT provided you are not planing to overload it and drive it under stressful road conditions. Most, not all, overdrives in front of a TT 7+ to 1 rear end will run a little faster than a 5+ to 1 rear end alone. Provided you are not in a very hilly area, most TT owners seem to think a good overdrive in front of the 5+ to 1 rear end is the best, with a Ruckstell also even better.
There is the other type auxiliary transmission that mounts at the back end of the torque tube. Many of them are direct and underdrive only. So you must know what you are looking at.
Remember, condition on all of these is important. Some replacement bearings are available, many are not. Some can be replaced with expensive alterations. Gears, if you have a bad one, think expensive replacement. Fair price on these things run from $10 to $750 mostly depending on condition, are the additional mounting pieces with it, and individual unit desirability.
Drive carefully, and enjoy, W2
