Lovely car and some other neat old cars in the Rose Parade in Portland. The real rose parade.

It never rains on the "other" Rose Parade..
Nice pictures of parade Erich.
Erich: Is that Jim Gordon driving the 1911 Ford? neil
Yes, I'm pretty sure it is. A.K.A. "Flash" Gordon.
It never rains on our real rose parade either, just some wet air. Just enough to keep the moss on our backs green.
Yep, That's Jim's car.
But of course, his is the old style 1911 before they started putting fore-doors on...
Notice the nicely restored accessory KW 'lectric lights.

What is the red car that ran behind him in the parade? I couldn't shrink that one down so you have to go to the photo link above to see that one. Nice looking big red touring car.
It's a White tour bus, only it's red.
Where is the red car? All I see is a yellow circa 1920 White tour bus as used in national parks such as Yellowstone. There was one of them in Minnesota back in the 1960s.
Sorry but I couldn't let this get by. A departed fan belt can happen to the best of us. The crowd loved the "show".
The "real" Rose Parade? In what way? Perhaps the real Rose Festival, but I believe that you'll have a hard time find some criteria where Portland's parade is more "real" that the original. And notice that I don't have to tell you where the original is....
LOL... Actually, it's not the Rose Parade. It's called the Portland Rose Festival of which a major event includes the "Grand Floral Parade". No "Rose Parade". Great photos just the same.

It's the "real" one and the best one to me because I live here and going to it is a family tradition for us. I am sure that other parade is the "real" one for you, but this is the one I have lived with for many years.
So what is that red car?
I thought you might enjoy that picture, Erich. The red car is Donn Snyder's 1911 REO. Donn took the picture of Old Faithful...
I have driven Model Ts in Portland's Rose Festival Grand Floral Parade and the Starlight Parade over the years. I even was able to get the Rose City Model T Club in the Grand Floral Parade in 2007 for the Rose Festival Centennial. (That was quite an accomplishment because they don't allow antique car clubs to enter!)
However, I agree with Eric, the real "Rose Parade" goes down Colorado Blvd. I done that one a couple of times, too. I marched in THE Rose Parade in 1981 and 1982 with the University of Washington Husky Marching Band.

Thanks Keith. Both parades are fantastic and I hope Jim's car is no worse for the wear after that overheat.
