I'm looking at the catalogs and they only show the rear fender I just restored for a 25 sedan, is that what this is and will fit no others years models?

I purchased a pile of T fenders for very little money and I'm fixing up the better ones for resale to fund my own T project. Can anybody identify some of these front fenders? Based on all the other stuff I saw laying around in this guys back yard, they all look to be about 1923-25 to me. Thanks in advance.

Jimmy

All of the front fenders look to be pre 1923 to me. In 1923 there was an angled lip hanging down from the valance to match the depth of the radiator bottom tank cover. If any of the fenders are flat in cross section (discounting the bead) they would be 1915 or 16 (hard to tell from your pics). Other than that, 1917 - 23. Rear fender looks to be the same but closer pics would help.

The restored fender looks nice, was it in the same condition as the others?

Gavin, actually, the lip to match the lower radiator cover was for a '24 model year. That was a change that also included the high radiator and hood. Dave

Gavin,
The primed rear fender is the one also shown in the group photo. It had a lot of dent damage but no rust out. Somebody also cut out a 4 inch square right over the bead! Same thing in rear section, another larger square was cut out (I guess for patch panels a long time ago). Some are only good enough to cut up in sections to make one fair fender. They cost me less than $10.00 each so I'm not complaining.

Between the observations of yourself and David, I'm still in the dark as to the years they might be.

The primered rear fender on the saw horse is 24-5 sedan right rear

17 - 23 were all the same.

I am an architectural designer by day, panelbeater by night. A local (Napier NZ) hotrodder recently imported a rodded 26 T coupe from USA. When it arrived it had 9 fenders in it, all of similar condition to yours. I bought them and have repaired them all to a useable condition though they all need finishing. I love that part of the restoration process.

Good luck with your project financing venture.

David,

Thanks for the correction, I knew what I was trying to say, it just came out wrong.

How easy it is to convey false information.

Gavin,
I just finished another front fender that wasn't too bad but now I'll start on the roughest ones. I enjoy it too. I take them to that last step where they would be fine if you just painted them as is for a nice 'go car' and I leave the ultra fine finicky finish detailing up to the buyer if they care to go that far.

Saves me lots of time and it's hard very to recover your time & $$$ investment if you take them to that 'almost perfect' stage yourself. Jimmy

PS. Since you're from NZ you'll know what an Ariel is. Here's an example of how far gone sheet metal can be and still be salvaged. I purchased a set of metal panniers from UK eBay a while back. They were so rusted out that the seller changed his mind and only charged me for the shipping. They are now fully restored & mounted on my 1958 Police Ariel Leader.

Jimmy, if that is your front fender listed on ebay, it is a '17-'23 type as discussed on here. Just a heads up. Dave
