I put the transmission together on my T. Could not find any timing marks on the gears. I did the proper spacing, but now I am wondering if I am going to have problems. It is already in the car but I haven’t started it. What will happen if it’s wrong?
Yer' transmission will kick back and break yer' crankshaft!
Tom, it can't be wrong, if one gear is only one tooth out, you can't get it together and if you could, all would be locked up.
Tom, Refer to page 25 of the "Model T Ford Transmission" book.
The "C" of each triple gear should be meshed with the driven gear. If you didn't do this... I would suggest you pull'er apart and do it over.
If you don't have the book GET IT from the MTFCA book store. It's not too late but might delay your assembly a bit. Do it right and save your self grief and potential expense.
I learned the hard way many years ago.

Sorry for the double post but you can save your self some "OH Poos"!
John,
Thanks for your response, but there are no marks on the gears or anything else to go by. Possibly old replacements.
Could be early riveted gears? they had no marks and timed by spacing, if it was turning all OK by hand when you assembled then you will be OK. Like I said if you could get it together with a gear out of timing then the whole set up would have to be assembled with a sledge hammer.
Thanks Kerry, it does turn and it doesn't seem to bind
Tom, If it went together it is OK. I assume you were able to spin the drums before putting in the clutch plates.
Kenny,Yes I was able to spin the drums, so it should be okay.
