Can someone describe is there anything else in the attachment of the wishbone to the perches on the 26-7 besides the perch and nut?
In removing the wishbone, the Ford manual mentions only the retaining nuts, no washers. It doesn't differentiate by year.
Don't forget the cotter pins.
So how can you tighten up your wishbone if it wiggles where it attaches to the perches? Even after the nuts are drawn up between an "oops" and a "oh Crap!"?
Chances are,the nuts are worn. Buy some new ones with a nice taper on them and then tighten it up,replace cotters and you're done.
Does it have the right nuts? They're supposed to be tapered on top to fit into a recess around the hole in the wishbone. If the hole is "wallered out" so the nuts bottom out, you could put washers above the nuts so that tightening squashes them into the recess. Or you can replace the wishbone or the nuts, whichever is worn out.
