David if your available - enlighten us (me) on what is stock or proper for my 24 coupes cowl vent lever knob?
Hello John,
I believe that the cowl vents originally were all stamped steel . I think a lot of them broke after some time. I know that our Fordor's handle was broken when we got it. I will post a couple of pictures of what I believe they were like. Best regards, John
John Page got it right. That is what the vent is suppose to look like.

John , I have just taken a photo of what I did to make our vent work. Like you I wasn't certain at the time what the handle should look like. Pre/ Forum days 25 years ago. I welded a cut off 1/4 inch bolt to the broken stub and found this old car door handle knob that looked OK. The red in the photo is a short piece of plastic tubing to stop any rattles on the ratchet quadrant.
David, were there 2 different designs in '24?
Mine doesn't look like that. Mine looks more like the one in John's picture. are the vents/handles the same between these two?
my setup (ratchet) is like Johns first photo but the handle and shaft must have broken away. Someone put a round shaft on it with a set of threads to accept a knob. I thought that was wrong. I'll go with the first photo and make one. - thanks David, I know you would have the answer - and John for your photos!JOhn your fix looks great - much better than what I have!
Brian,
There was only one design T-17048 - Cover (Ventilator). It was used on the Fordor, Coupe and Tudor. They were all like the one John Page's.
I don't know if there were any aftermarket ones for the closed cars. My touring car has an aftermarket cowl vent.

Sorry Dave, I mean the bracket/ratchet.
Mine is like the first picture, my 26 is like the second picture
Ahh, didn't notice the different bracket. The first photo is the one used on the 24-25 Coupes, and probably the Fordor and Tudor. I will venture a guess and say the second photo is a 26-27 Fordor. They redesigned the cowl on the Fordor for 26, so that would explain the different bracket.
