Had rehearsal this evening for the show Thoroughly Modern Millie at the St. Louis Muny Opera. Turns out that the head props guy is a car guy too. I start the show by coming out with four of the dancers in and on my car. All four real good looking young gals that are excited to ride in a Model T. Then I come out at the end of the show.
We were going to take pictures after the rehearsal but we got warnings of rain coming in at the intermission. The head props guy found me a garage to put the car in and let the producer know that the car was put away for the night, so no pictures yet. We didn't even get to do the last half rehearsal.
Got the truck and trailer home and put away then the rain hit.
Next rehearsal is Monday at 1 pm. will try to get pictures then. Got to say, tonight was fun. Don't know who was more excited with having us in the show, the Muny people or us.

Steven

Steven, what is the plan for the performance if rain happens? Does the show go on or is it cancelled?

Below is a link to the Muny's rain check policy. Last night was rehearsal and just like making a movie, hurry up and lots of waiting.

We have been at the Muny every day since Monday. On Monday we we there from noon till midnight with the rehearsals then the show. All this for maybe 4 minutes on stage. This is a unique experience though and it is something to watch what goes on behind the scenes. Below is some pictures that I was aloud to take during the rehearsal'

The wife and I pulling out of the garage were they let me keep the car.

Were I stage the car before I go on stage

The gals I haul out to the center stage. This is during the Monday rehearsal. I tried to get a candid photo but just point a camera at them and they immediately pose

This is my daughter in law and my grand daughter. Granddaughter's name is Millie so she wanted to see this play.

My wife in her costume. Not real flattering.

Me in my costume. The garage I use is right behind me.

Greg, head of props. This guy is as protective of my car as I am.

I wonder if this will make the rounds like "Ragtime" and provide lots more T time?

Running my business during the day then going to the Muny till 11:30 at night has us both very tired. That being said, this has been a very nice experience. Everybody there has been so nice to us.

A couple of members of the orchestra have mentioned to us to let them know if the brakes go out so they can get out of the way. They were joking but I am glad I have Rockies on this car.

Thanks
Steven

Does this musical still have the "Chinese Laundry" slave trade story line intact??

Yes, I carry "Mama" onstage at the very end of the play.

I get staged to drive out, then a young dancer come running out from the stage. She does a quick change of clothes next to my car, then climbs in the back and I carry her out. That ends the show
