I thought it might be fun to peruse the Popular Mechanics magazine for the Month and Year I was born - just to see what was going on then. I stumbled across this ad.
If anyone interested in looking through "their" issue, here's an easy way to find it:
http://books.google.com/books?id=CdkDAAAAMBAJ&lr=&rview=1&source=gbs_all_issues_r&cad=1&atm_aiy=1930#all_issues_anchor
just click on the year and then the month.

That's cool!
Come on.....you weren't born in 1913!...or...can I have some of your Fountain of Youth?
Very cool! Now I have to go look...
ABout the most interesting Ford related thing in my issue (June 63) was a letter to the editor by a guy saying he had driven over a million miles in his 36 Ford and was wondering if that was a record.
The editor said he didn't know and asked readers how many more old Fords had been kept out of the junk yard...grin..
I looked up April 1939 and what a revelation.....
It was the time of the New York Worlds Fair with huge exhibits by General Motors, Kodak and NCR. Interesting items I saw during the review were:
A machine to duplicate a key
Lighted Mirrors in automobiles
A ratchet on micrometers to eliminate the need for "feel"
The use of a spark plug as a lightening arrestor.
There was much more, three radio designs, using one, tow and three tubes, fascinating.

Sorry, Fountain of youth Water all sold out!
(The ad above was actually in the Aug, 1944 issue and, I guess, was just bragging about Ford's former accomplishments!)
