I've recently rekindled interest in my T, "Anastasia".
A couple of weeks ago I replaced all her inner-tubes and I set aside today to get her out of the shed and on the road again. She's been in the corner of the shed and unable to be driven out, so I bought a pair of those "go Jacks" which worked a treat. Once out of the shed, I checked her over and decided to take her for a drive to warm up the old oil prior to changing it. But....she wouldn't fire. Turns out, when I turned on the fuel tap, I'd actually turned it off and she's been sitting with fuel slowly dripping out of the carby all these months. 3/4 of a tank full....gone. Completely empty. Which is probably a good thing....no stale fuel.
Anyway, I decided a short trip of a couple of miles would do the job. On that trip, I drove her past 3 different groups of people out walking on a lovely Saturday morning. All cheered, clapped and gave the thumbs up. They got lots of honking in return, and then waved even more. One young guy had seen me leaving and assumed I wouldnt be long, because he had his young 4 year old out on the kerb waiting for Anastasia's return. I didnt realise just how much I'd missed that sort of thing. I can tell you now.....there's going to be a lot more of it, starting right now.
Cheers,
Rob
Rob- what have you been doing leaving that beautiful T in the corner of the garage? Glad you have her going again and are enjoying it. No one should leave thier T long enough to not remeber where on and off is on the fuel tap!I get withdrawel when my T's are out of commission and I cant drive them. Lucky I have a selection to choose from!
warwick.
Yes Warwick, you are lucky to have that choice.
I too have a choice, and I am lucky in that I belong to a generic car club. But therein lies my problem too. Most of the guys in my club have cars from the 50's 60's and 70's. When they go on runs, they usually are much faster than my T, and consequently we take one of our other cars, a '55 Mk1 Zephyr or a '75 Triumph Dolomite Sprint. Its good to get out and about in them too, but I forgot just what a thrill it is to drive "Anastasia".

Rob,
All great looking cars! Glad you have the T out again. That is a great way to introduce others to our hobby and the history of our cars.
Depending on the layout of the garage, sometimes you can add another door and then they can all be driven out with moving something else. Or trading one of the larger cars for a micro-car (old Mini etc) can give you more room also.
Respectfully submitted,

Thanks for the positive remarks Hap.
At the risk of being labelled a hillbilly, level ground is at a premium on my land and the problem I have with adding a door on the shed is that it'd open onto either an embankment or a drop. So, my shed arrangement will have to stay the way it is at present. These new go-jacks work well and the only other alternative would be to build another shed, but my funds wont go that far.
Cheers,
Rob
