I am having a difficult time finding pictures or references to a spare tire carrier that is mounted on the running board of a 3 door touring.

I'm sure I've seen one somewhere. Does anyone have pictures or perhaps experience with a DIY carrier for this location?

Thanks
schuh

Bud what yr T? I just bought a double base still mounted to a T running board, it would hold a 30 x 3 and a 30 x 3 1/2 according to the size of the holder 125.00 plus UPS danuser88@ktis.net

Thanks everyone for the pictures and suggestions. They have given me some good ideas on how to fabricate what I want!

When I get my brackets built I will post pictures.

Cheers

Steve,
I don't know if it matters, but on my original "Sturdy" side mount carrier the flat pieces that bolt to the frame cross over each other, forming an X. Never wondered why until I looked at yours.
Hmm.

Here's a set of links to two more types of running board spare tire carriers posted on previous ACCESSORY OF THE DAY posts.

David,

We missed that detail when converting an OEM rack. I can see where the crossed arms would be better. My spare tends to rock a lot while driving. I need to get a piece of hard rubber cut to the shape of the tire to fit under it to stop the movement.

Here are pic's of the side mount spare tire bracket I removed from my 1916 T to make room for a running board tool box. It mounts to the bolts holding the left side lamp on and the smaller bracket to the running board bolt. I also included a sketch of a bracket I made that hooks in the outside strap hole that was made to hold a second spare. I used 36" spare tire straps from Lang's.
