I got a call from a producer from the Discovery Channel a couple of weeks ago about doing some filming of Mike Rowe learning to drive a Model T. We went back and forth with emails for a while and they finally said that they would like me to get a few T's together and they would come to our local fairgrounds and do some shooting of me teaching Mike to drive a T. They are producing a new show for the Discovery Channel about how Booze Built America and they wanted to talk about how Model T's contributed to the distribution of alcohol during prohibition. A couple of producers and a director came on Tuesday and looked at my 26 touring and the Fiddler's Grove area at the Wilson County Fairgrounds in Lebanon, TN and said that they would be back today with the crew and Mike Rowe and we would drive around in the T and I would teach Mike how to drive it. I talked with them yesterday and they told me that they would be here around 3 or 4 this afternoon and were really looking forward to it. All this we were going to do for free, just to get publicity for our cars, club, and the local fair grounds. The local paper was even going to be there to get a few shots of Mike Rowe driving a T. I got a call around noon telling me that the whole thing was cancelled, but thanking me for helping them out. I was a little sad as we had gotten some cars cleaned up and up there for the filming. One older guy (83) brought his TT truck up and it was a chore for him to get it out and there. We set a new record high today of 107 degrees and the TT doesn't go fast enough to get much of a breeze blowing through it. Oh well, I guess that TV producers live on a schedule of their own and in a world of their own and don't really think about how other folks have to make preparations to get things done while trying to help them out.

Bummer. My wife would LOVE to meet Mike Rowe. Actually, I think she'd leave me for him.:-)

I met Mike a few years ago when I did some bodywork on his car (a pos Toyota) at the dealership I was working for at the time. He's a nice guy, the real deal.
