No 'Lizzie' rides in southwest Florida this weekend. :-( Oh sure, I could probably the ol girl out for a ride 'Lizzie' is a 27 Tudor Sedan but the roads are flooded and the wind is blowing like crazy. It would be just my kind of luck to get blown off the road and into a flooded storm canal.
This storm is pushing the Gulf water towards shore. My boat dock is 3 feet under water, my boat looks like it's sitting in the back yard.

That long horizontal piece of wood in front of the boat is the back of the bench on the boat dock. The seat part of the bench is under water.

Colo sure could use your rain.

Firefighters in Colorado are working 8 large wildfires

Keep your powder dry, Dennis. How far would you have to go for higher ground?

My part of Florida is as flat as a kitty littler pan. The boat and the Model T are at my daughter's house which is at sea level. My house is about 3 blocks inland, 9 feet above sea level. Tornado watches from Tampa inland, so it's a damned if you, damned if you don't, Ralph. Might see 10 more inches of rain yet. We're set up for large amounts of rain around here, flood channels drainage ponds and all that stuff. They just closed Sunshine Skyway Bridge between Tampa and St.Pete. That means sustained winds above 35 MPH. Tornadoes in Naples earlier. I'm right in the middle between St. Pete and Naples. My main concern right now is the the water at high tide, don't need the boat in the swimming pool.

Dennis,

If you think there is more than 50/50 chance of the water getting high enough to bother the T -- you could put it up on Jack stands and or on top of some blocks or put the wheels/tires on top of some 2 x 4 or 2 x 6s stacked on each other etc. An extra couple inches can sometime make the difference between water in the bearings or engine.

For the boat -- it has been forever since I dealt with any of those. I'm sure there are some recommended procedures for them also. The thing I don't remember is if there is a way you can tie it so the mooring lines/ropes will rise higher up the dock pole as the water rises and then go back down when the water recedes. I would guess -- but that is only a guess a hoop with some floats would do that -- but that is just a guess. There is always the manual way of doing it -- check every hour or so and/or based on the tide forecast.

Hopefully it will all calm down with minimal additional damage. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

Respectfully submitted,

Hap l9l5 cut off

I'm abit east of Tampa and we've gotten over 5 inches of rain since yesterday morning. A small tornado hit about a mile from my house, but no damage to my house or shops.

Rain is still coming down heavy and expected to keep raining for the next couple days.

At least I got some work done in the shop!

Hopefully things will let up for us soon.

John, Palm Beach is on the east coast. Not much going on over there in terms of weather.
Hap, this isn't my first encounter with this kind of weather. The boat is tied-off in the middle of the channel between my dock and the neighbor's dock across the way where it can't ride up on the dock if the water gets higher, like we do for hurricanes. The water has to come up another 6 feet before the Model T is in any kind of trouble and by then, it would be all the way through my daughter's house and out on the street. Very little likelihood of things getting that bad. I can just drive it over to my house before anything like that happens.
Keep your head down Luke, severe storm warning for your area. My weather radio has been going nutz.

Raining like a cow peeing on a flat rock right now. Been raining since sometime yesterday, light some of the time. We were under a tornado warning earier this evening. It was lifted about 8:30 pm. Polk county to the east and Pinellas county to the west are having are having tornado action right now, I think. Just have to expect the worst and hope for the best. :-( Bob

John, I didn't realize the weather was going all the way across the state. Just took a look at he weather channel. 8+ inches of rain in the Tampa area so far. 3+ down here south of Sarasota, possibility of 15+ inches more. The city came through a few weeks ago and cleaned out all the flood channels in my neighborhood. It's been a real dry winter so all the retention ponds were empty. We can't be any more ready for this than we are right now but there are limits to how much water the all the flood prevention measures can hold.

Im not thrilled about my flight into West Palm today, but it is what it is. Dennis, hope all comes out alright for you on the west coast, Im lucky as long as we dont get a terrible hurricane, all I have to do is look out at it. No t's down here yet, so I'll stand up on the 8th floor and watch the ocean roll! Maybe I can get in some great antiqueing in this area to pass my time!

I live between two lakes 14-16 feet above sea level. Its been proven a 9 earthquake will come any time in the next 100 years with a 38 foot wall of water at 400mph from a 100 miles off the coast!
No tornados here, lots of razor clams, crab, salmon, ducks, geese, elk and deer. No bad snakes or gaters! Just took my tractor tire off to fix in light rain normal for this time of year.
T has not been cleaned up for summer with one day dry and the next wet so guess we all have our issues!!!! Best of luck down south!

Dennis - made the trip to West Palm, weather was horrible coming down, but wonderful now! Middle Florida - south of Orlando on the east side has areas that are swamped! The ocean is calming down today, it was really rolling the last few days. How did you make out over on the West side?

That's interesting? My original post had a picture of my boat in it? I don't know whose car that is?

Everything over here in my neighborhood is pretty much back to normal.

I just noticed that, too, Dennis. I posted that pic on the thread about steering stabilizers. The barefoot boy is Brent Terry.

Tie a rope to the back of the T & find another person that has a pair of water skies. Road skiing on the water. Maybe wear knee pads of some kind.
