A while back some folks asked if I had any old pics of my T. I found a few and these are mainly from 1978. I know there are some much older ones from the 50s, but I'm not sure where they are yet. Anyway, here ya go. Car was rebuilt from the ground up in 1978.

That's my grandfather's brother. Had his own auto shop as long as anyone can remember. I've watched him set the timing on a V8 just by listen and 'feel' then my dad checked it with a timing light and it was DEAD on. He was that good.

I'll respond to this post with more pics. I have some neat ones of the car when they're done.

The silver contraption is a cutout exhaust. There's a wire from the back that goes through the floorboard of the car and attaches to a ring. When you pull the ring and hook it forward, the exhaust flows through the big pipe on top. Let the ring loose and a spring closes a flap at the end of the big pipe and the exhaust flows through the little pipe on the bottom which has some baffles.

Here's some pics of the car when they finished it.

My grandfather Courtney on the left, his father on the right, Pope. Everybody called him Pop Spratlin.

Very similar photos but you can see different details of the car.

Man check out those clothes they are in in the pics above!! HA HA.

Here's some of my dad's cousins in the car with Pop.

These are some of MY cousins in the car, in a later configuration. As he got older and the car was a parade queen instead of a hotrod for my granddad, he added things like the windshield, and a toolbox/trunk on the back.

The last pic is the way the car looks now, except I don't have that 12 volt battery or the ugly wires hanging out. Also, put the handbrakes back in the car.

I've almost decided I like the car better WITHOUT the windshield, but I'll leave it like it is for now.

Here's one last photo of the car pre-windshield. One of things I'm most excited about is the new flat-tube radiator that is supposed to get here Wednesday. I'll post lots of pics of the finished car this weekend.

And now my desire to own a speedster continues. I like the car better without the windshield. The windshield looks like an afterthought in the way it looks like it was just "stuck" on the car.

I agree. I grew up and never saw the car without the windshield until yesterday afternoon when my mom showed me those pictures.

Right now I'm just working on doing the necessary things to get the car running and driveable again. Once I've enjoyed driving it for a while, I'd like to take it all apart and get the frame powder coated, remove the windshield and get the body smoothed out and re-painted, get the reverse-eye leaf spring for the rear and the dropped axle for the front, lots of stuff.
