I pulled up the seat and 7187 is stamped on the wood underneath the seat. 126 is stamped on the passenger side floor board.

What does this tell you guys?

Thanks,

Philip

Few would know, there are less than 30 '15-'16 Couplets in existence.

Phillip,

When you have a chance, please also post some photos and if possible place a quarter or ruler etc. so we can better tell what size the numbers are and where they are located. Note sometimes folks with more experience will spot things that others may have missed. For example for years I missed the body number on our 1918 – because I didn’t know there was likely to be one on the front floor board riser so I never looked.

Note if the 7187 was located on the wooden seat frame that the seat cushion fits on, then I would suspect (yes – guess) that it most likely was/is the body number. Currently we are still trying to gather and make more sense out of the body numbers. For some of them used on the Runabout and Touring bodies that were produced by Beaudett and Wilson and possibly sometimes some of the other body makers, the body number also contains a date code with the year and month the body was produced. See: the posting “Home for the Holidays” at http://www.mtfca.com/discus/messages/29/40322.html for photos and where the body numbers are found on the 1913-1922 tourings and runabouts.

For the couplet we are just beginning to gather information. Mike Walker and others who have coupelets and have been gathering information about them for several years will have a better understanding about them than I will. But I am also very interested in documenting them and making the information available to others in the future.

Concerning the floorboard, I don’t recall someone having a series of numbers on the floorboard before. It could have easily been mentioned before and I missed it or I forgot about it (every read an old post and found out it was your own?) There have been several cases of original floorboards being stamped with letters. Please see: http://www.mtfca.com/discus/messages/257047/286255.html?1336430666 for additional photos and information about floorboards.

Respectfully submitted,
