Hi to the Mainlanders on the forum...
I'm about to purchase my tickets to the dessert contenant of Australia ... I will be flying into Melbourne and staying for about a week (if I don't get sent home before my time runs up).
1st on my list of things to do is Bendigo (I'm coming to steal all the T parts I can find - you stole pharlap and the pavlova- and its about time us kiwis got something back-funny how you never steal the really good stuff like our politicians)...anyway I digress...
Apart from Bendigo what else should a kiwi into Model T's, veteran cars and old stuff in general (Antiques etc) do in the greater Melbourne area? I will be hiring a decent Aussie Ford (Unless they mess up my booking AGAIN and give me a Holden) so travel will not be an issue.
Thanks for the advice!
Alex from godzone New Zealand
Ps. I've had enough earthquakes over here so I hope Melbourne won't be having any more!!!
We have had a couple of earthquakes in NSW lately....
Manuel in Oz
There's a British based set of aviation forums, and the Kiwi/Oz section they call "Godzone and Dunnunda."
Hi Alex, This mean you will not be back for the ipswich rally??.
You just missed the Winter Solstice Run in Dunedin. It was T shirt weather this year!
Bob, I was/am tempted with the Ipswich rally but its always time and $$$ and I think going to rallys without a car is never the same! I see a few NZrs are going though so will be some kiwi representatives there
Alex. Be sure to drop by the model t ford club of Victoria site at the Bendigo Swap. Have a free sausage with us from around noon and also a cold drink. Lots of T people to meet and we can help with your plans from there. Not sure what number the club site is this year as they have redeveloped th swap site. You will be able to get the number in the swap book.
Hey Warwick sounds good! Would be good to put a face to some of the names on here! This is my second big OE to Australia and met some great people last time. I know we are some time away yet but I like to be organised!
HI Rick, Thanks for that Australian aviation site . Proved very interesting.
Alex, i did the trip down to the ford discovery centre at geelong when we were over a couple of months ago, about $9 return from southern cross on train, about 1hr either way, a good museum with 3 t's, a replica quadracycle, and lots of falcon stuff, old and new, plenty of sectioned engines and cars to look at. Allow 2-3 hours there. My dad and i been thinking about going over to bendigo too, but not made up minds yet. Regards, bede.
By the way, the Ford Discovery Centre at Geelong is closing next month. Not sure why, lack of general interest, or maybe just more Ford cutbacks?
Anyway, I have saved you a trip !
Chris M.
Thanks for the heads up Chris!!!
