Title- "Model T Ford roadster ute parked outside Musgrove's Ltd., Perth. ca. 1922.
Guys, can somebody out there please have a go at cleaning up/magnifying this photo, particularly the body bucket. It is a colonial body but I cannot make out which?
With thanks,
Allan from down under.
Dane,
Because of the 21 inch balloon tires and wheels, I believe the car is a 1925 model which would have been available late in 1924 to 1925. I looked to see where I could submit a recommended change from 1922 to late 1924 or later, but I did not see that option on the pages I looked at. I know I have seen that in the past.
Allan,
If you or someone else figures out the colonial body maker, please let us know. I did not try to enhance the photo -- as I have access to microsoft paint on this computer and I'm not that good at it.
Respectfully submitted,
Hap l9l5 cut off
This maybe a little better,Allan.

Hap, the 21" balloon tyred wheels may be a later update. When I first saw the photo I thought it was a 20s Duncan Motors roadster. The lines, the seam at the rear quarter, the position of the top bow clamps all point to this. But I cannot see the detail of the windscreen to confirm this. Being a Western Australian photo, this is not likely.
I do not think it is a 25 model. By 1925, Duncan Motors were supplying all the bodies to Ford for assembly in the old Dalgety woolstores. Conventional wisdom is that a roadster body was never produced by Duncans.
I am currently re-wooding a body for a Western Australian car. The cowl is the same one piece construction and it also has the concealed door hinges. If I could see the windscreen in detail, I might be able to compare them.
In many ways you fellows have it much easier to authenticate/date your Ts, but the differences in ours makes it a more challenging and interesting proposition.

Allan, If it is a WA car then the chances are that it is a Duncan Motors car as they were supplying the majority of the bodies to Grave and Dwyer in WA in 1923-24.
The "Dalgety" bodied roadster was released a couple of months after the touring body. The earliest record I have of the roadster version arriving in Duncan Motors showroom in Adelaide is September 1925 (note this is SA only, I have no idea about the Eastern seaboard). The only genuine photo I have of this rare body showing at least some of the turtledeck comes courtesy of the Northern Territory Library 10070/80333.
Below is the only photo I have in my collection of a "Dalgety" roadster in the new showrooms of Duncan Motors Limited, Franklin Street, Adelaide. The roadster dates the photo as no earlier than September of 1925.

Peter, David, your contributions now make my first impressions that this was a Duncan Motors roadster a distinct possibility. The light does not show the bead along the side of the cowl panel like it does in David's photo. The cut of the top, the lines of the top bows and their mountings are all the same as David's photo.
The Western Australian body I am working on has a windscreen like the Dodges have, curved solid steel uprights which bolt down through the cowl. It has a high steel firewall so must be 23-24. I do not know its manufacturer and neither does its owner.

Allan, how about some pictures of the WA car?
Could be that we have photo's of a similar one or in the future the one you are working on can be compared to any others found.
