Hello fellow T-ers!

As many of you know from my rebuild thread that Chris Becker and I are making the trip to Bonneville this year in our Model T's....my '26 Roadster:

And his 1917 Speedster:

Unfortunately, a mutual friend of ours who had offered to drive the truck and trailer rig (for support in case of the worst) could not get the time off and in this late date, have no one to replace him.

So he and I will be making the trip alone with no support. We most likely won't need it, but you never know and while both cars are all new....they are also mostly untested.

This bring me to the reason for this Thread. We are taking mostly older highways (for the drive and not to get run over on the interstates) and want to ask if there are any T club members along our route that might lend us a hand should we run into trouble or need repairs?

Our route will be :

I-84 to Boise and Twin Falls, ID....Hwy 93 to Wells, NV and I-80 into Wendover, UT.

Anybody along the route that would be willing to help if we run into trouble?

What dates are you going? I am going to Speed Week for the first time this year. We will be leaving Madras Oregon on the 10th of Aug and coming back on the 14th. I am traveling with some other guys and not sure of the route yet, but will keep an eye open for you. We met some really nice T people in the Boise area in May and hopefully there are on the forum. Where are you staying in Wendover? I am having a heck of a time finding a room at this late date. Sounds like a great trip. I drove a T to the Centennial in 08 and I was suprized at how much rain I ran into, so I would be ready for some rain. If your ready it probably won't rain

Wish I could...but I am about 100 miles East of your destination...

Watch the elevation carefully between Pendleton & LaGrande. I lost a transmission in the Suburban there and it did not make a fun vacation.

Good luck & god speed.

I would not worry nearly as much about Cabbage hill, and worry more about Hwy 93 from Twin to Wells, a lot of it has passing lanes, but the drivers found on that road can be some of the least courteous and stupid in the state. I would also recommend getting off the freeway at Bliss and going through Hagerman and Buhl rather than going on down to Twin exit.
Best
Gus

Dennis,

We are rolling out for the salt on Aug 8th and heading home the 14th . We are staying at the Montego Bay in Wendover.

I know what you mean about finding a hotel at this late date....I made my reservations in February and they were almost full then!

Collin,

No worries! I know we will hit a few steep grades, but we should be fine.

Everyone has been saying the same thing about jumping off at Bliss....might just have to do that :-)

MMMmmmmmmmmm, saltflats.

So, uh, are you going to run the cars during the trials?

Take a million pics, (and share them with us!) as that is going to be an absolutely fantastic adventure.

I have to agree about the route change, so I amended our route to get off at Bliss and take Hwy-30 instead.....saved us 10 to 15 miles too! :-)
