hi new here,,, i have a bear wheel aligner..any one know any thing about them ?? i think its for a model t ..pat dates 1916 and 1923
they worth anything??
thanks meanie
Does it look like this?
YES!!! but it has a bear sign/rack it fits in to hang on the wall
thanks meanie
the rack/sign says "BEAR WHEEL ALIGNER AND TEMPLET"..I DIDNT KNOW IF IT WAS WORTH KEEPING OR SCRAPING..
THANKS MEANIE
It's not just for Ts, but for any frontend. I've used mine on the moderns.
I think I paid about $60 for mine from Tbay without the rack/sign. Tbay (ebay) is the best way to sell it. If I had some spare garage wall, I'd be after it, just for the rack.
THANKS...BUT ITS HEAVY AND WOULD COST TO MUCH TO SHIP..PROBABLY MORE THAN WHAT'S ITS WORTH
TANKS MEANIE
I was about to say I'd drive up there and pick it up but it's too hot up there. I'm staying in South Texas where it's been "cool".
WHAT DO YOU MEAN TO HOT IT COOLED DOWN TO 102.2 RIGHT NOW AND ONLY A 20 MPH BREEZE

It's an interesting tool to have hanging on the garage wall. However, it is dependent on perfectly straight wheels and tires. On a Model T the only adjustment that can be made without bending something is the tow in and it needs to be measured from the same spot in front and in back. Best way I know of is to put some tape and mark the tape
in the center of the tire at a point where a framing square touches the tire when one leg of the square is on the ground. Measure the distance between each tire, then push the car until the same spot is at the rear of the tire. The rear should be farther apart than the front. I know there is a measurement given in the manual, but it can only be adjusted by one full turn on the tire rod, so I set it to the first point where the rear of the tire is farther than the back. That is I screw in to the point where it is almost equal front and back, then turn it out one full turn. At that point the measurement should be between 3/16" and 1/4". I wouldn't even worry about the castor or camber unless there is a pulling to one side on a flat surface while driving, or rapid tire wear. Both those measurements require bending the axle or radius rod to correct.
SENT YOU A EMAIL DAN
"Only adj. that can be made without bending something is toe". Your exactly right Norm as far as this tool goes. The only thing you can check/set with it is toe. Units like these were still in use in the late 60's. We used 'em plenty of times. Caster & camber required other equipment.
I use mine on every car and it must be right because the tits on the tires wear evenly. By the way I find that the toe in is usually pretty close unless I am changing the tie rod or drag link.

I've used mine to check camber. Just because you can't adjust it with a wrench doesn't mean it shouldn't be checked.
I would like a set of instructions for it.
I GAVE IT AWAY TO A MEMBER HERE
That's very generous, Todd. You're a good man.
