I've come across what I believe is an old battery tester. Has anybody seen one of these before or have any information on what it was used for, how it operates, how old it is, etc? Any idea what something like this is worth?
I think it's just a neat old display piece at the very least.
Here's a closer look...
See www.bescobatteries.com (see about us). Apparently Besco Batteries is a battery supplier in Australia with a history that goes way back. With the multiple leads that were probably intended to connect to several batteries at once, I would guess that, what you have there, is an old vintage Besco battery charger used Down Under. Having lived in NY state for years I remember the oldtimers telling of putting cars in storage for the winter and using sleighs and horses. Several very old garages had these battery charging stations where the batteries were kept fresh for the cars use in the spring.

FWIW...here is a pic of Edison own from his place in West Orange NJ
Attention Dr. Frankenstein needs some of his equipment back.
Interesting about the battery tender idea. Note the brass nameplate calls it a master comparative tester.
Think it's from the days of dry cell technology?
The history says they go back more than 80 years which would most likely put it at around the mid to late 1920's.
I want those meters !!!
