Constantine,
Always great to hear of your progress and how you've been overcoming obstacles—mechanical and otherwise—along the way. What an amazing odyssey.

This should be a link to a map showing exactly where Constantine unloaded the T in southern Iran. Lots of driving ahead, and much of it through countries that end in "stan".

Oh wait a second, the route will likely be on the west side of the Caspian sea through Azerbeigan. Try this one:

Hi Guys,

Thanks for your messages.

I've updated the 'News' and 'Route' pages of my website.

From Bandar-e-Abbas I drive north to Sirjan, Yazd, Mo’alleman, Semnan then to the Caspian Sea coast. That route takes me deep into the desert and I believe close to a ballistic missile site...so if you see me looking bewildered on BBC or CNN you'll know what has happened.

The T is okay but being locked up in a VERY hot shipping container for more than a month has made the already damaged rear wooden spokes start to crack badly...not good.

People here are very very nice, I constantly hear "Welcome to Iran", "Thanks for coming to Iran". They love the T and the fact it's made in the USA.

Almost everything is cheap compared to Australia including petrol at 7000R a litre (1USD = 19000R).

Many pre-revolution USA made MACK trucks in good condition are still in service. They have a bulldog painted on the grill, and an older one I saw had chrome bulldog radiator mascot. In Africa I only saw old British (Morris, Leyland, Austin, Bedford) or Japanese trucks.

Still a long way to go for Moscow.

Constantine

Constantine.......that's really nice to hear how the people in the street there welcome you AND your American built T....... :-)
Too often entire countries are condemned because of their asinine governments.
Getting OT a touch, just Saturday I bought 6 pairs of Carhart socks.......made in PAKISTAN!
First thing I bought that's made there and they are VERY well made too....... :-)

and remember that everything he writes is monitored.

Having said that, its widely held I think that the younger folks there and less enthralled with their leadership as the leadership might have us believe.

If you watch the TV show Anthony Bourdain/No Reservations, he does an episode from Iran. He travels around Tehran and talks to people on the street including college students. It was very enlightening. One student made the comment that the Iranian people and the US people really have no problem with each other, it is the governments that don't get along.

Dave,

you asked:

"Did you have any trouble getting a passport through Iran?"

I don't understand...you mean, if I had trouble getting a visa for Iran?

David,

Sounds great; is an attempt on the Bering Strait part of the tour? If so, count me in. I would guess there was an amphibian conversion kit made for Model Ts.

Steve,

Doubt very much they are monitoring what I post here. Websites that they don't like are blocked such as youtube, facebook, BBC, CNN, etc. Although, if you have VPN software on your laptop like me you can easily get around it.
