A man visiting the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn from California was introduced to the city's less pleasant side recently. The Detroit News reports thieves made off with his 2001 Ford F-250 pickup truck. That would be bad enough by itself, but the truck was hooked to an enclosed trailer, which housed his classic 1930 Ford Model A at the time. As of right now, there are no leads in the investigation, and there is a $2,000 reward for information leading to vehicles' recovery. Police say the truck is wearing California license plate 6P95642 and is white and gold. The truck has a NASCAR license plate trim ring and a small NASCAR sticker on the rear window.

The trailer is a two-axle 2007 Iner Carrier Road Runner with California license plate 4JT5217.It has a small Ford Racing sticker on the rear door. The Model A is yellow with black fenders and a brown top with California license plate 670RHG. Authorities are urging anyone with information on the theft to call 1-800-242-HEAT.

Bummer, kinda makes the price of a GPS tracking device like Lojack worth the money, it would be found by now. Gps is really easy to install these days, and you would see a little blinking dot on a map on a computer showing exactly where your vehicle is.

Last year at the Woodward Dream Cruise near Detroit, a guy had his rig (tow truck, trailer and show car) stolen. His car was a classic Caddie, I think. Anyway, like Ed, I think a tracking device would be a great benefit. Especially when I see ads on tv for aps you can put in your phones to track your pet that has just run away...... well, I couldn't do it, as I'm still upset over the Ma Bell break-up, but I'll bet it could be done, and done cheaply, too. PS, I Absolutely HATE thieves..... may they all go straight to ...

I they catch the thief, I propose, hanging him, shooting him in the back and feeding his to a pride of lions! - oh yea, and take the car away from him!

If they do catch um, I'd like to see a judge give them the electric chair, and then give them a "reduced sentence." Instead of three hundred thousand volts, reduce it to two hundred thousand volts..... just my humble, if not vindictive opinion...

Pardon my rant.... Last year after some 23 years in Model T'ing, we had our motor meter and wings stolen right out from under the car cover. They were very kind of rare, sentimental and "irreplaceable." Well, we did replace them with new wings and motor meter (from China) and the insurance folks were great, but as for thieves...... OK, I'm done........

I had Lojack once, I was told that most small town police do not have the tracking ability in there squad cars. I don't know if the new GPS is different from Lojack..... Most car thieves don't want the bother of fencing vintage cars so that may show back up, as far as the truck, It's more than likely in a 1000 parts and all ready sold

Police discovered the car intact parked inside its trailer today near Mt. Elliot and Gratiot. This is an industrial area of Detroit.

The truck has not been recovered.

BONUS!! While it still sucks that the truck is gone, that's a lot easier to deal with if the Model A is ok.

All, I stumbled on a better idea, a device that does GPS tracking ONLY WHEN YOU NEED IT. no monthly fee, just buy it, and a fee to activate it if you need it.

shoot, I can't find the link. but made sense for stuff where you only pay when you need it, was about $250 for equipment and activate was < $60

The thief's didn't know what to make of the Model A!

That's funny I have people point at my car and they tell there friends, "Hey that's a $125,000 car right there!"

I always think I'll sell it to him for a loss of $25,000 and take a $100,000 in a min. Then buy 10 Model A's.
