From time to time I see "Bump" as the entire message posted by a member.
Would someone please educate me? What does it mean?
Thanks
Just a way to "bump" a message back to the top of the list without actually adding anything to the thread. Often used for messages thought to be important.
What Thomas said... It's often seen when someone has asked for help or advice and not received a response. Since it's possible that some forum members may not have seen the message the first time it was posted, adding something to the thread - even the word "bump" - bumps it back up to the top of the list.

Bump - Bump
Be_Zero_Be
Bump, step two left, Bump, step two right, bump, bump, step, step, bump, bump, step, step.
Back step, bump, bump, front step, bump, bump.
Give this to your teen age daughter or granddaughter and she will know exactly what this is if she has taken Jazz dance, cheerleading, etc.
(It was coffee time and there wasn't much else going on with the forum)
Hi Stan...
You brought a smile to my face!
Have a good day.
Way to go Peter, now this thread is going to be bumped to the top for the next week.
Thomas: I guess the BTT mean the same as "Back to the top" or what.
Hey Bill, that is correct, but sometimes the auto spell check ads a "U" to it, so you must always check your message before posting it or you will be misunderstood.

Bump:
Rick that's a bounce..
I'd call them Hasslers
I thought they were HOOTERS
There is also "btt" = "Bump To the Top"
Time for another BUMP
Over 1-hour has pasted. Bump
Hey Rich, Bump to the top is bttt, but most people do not use that because it sounds rude.
It was time to bup it again anyway. I suspect this thread will never die.
Best
Gus
Something tells me this thread will go bump in the night!
I thought those were Bumpers Rick.:>)
Generally speaking, Chris, those are hooters and what they are attached to is the hassle.

Respectfully submitted,

Hap, that's a mighty fine graphic there, sir. However....Ricks is the one I'm copying for future reference. Nothing personal or anything...grin...
Stan, your bad, but I like it!!
Ricks, your real bad, but that's even better!!!!!
Oh! My! God!
What have I done??
Hey Peter,
I told you so, this thread will never end.
But remember, there are no stupid questions, just stupid answers

"It's alive! It's alive!"
Peter, thank you for asking the question, 'cause I've benn wondering too.
I came to the conclusion that it was a "modern way" to say "pass", but the explanation that it is to bring the thread to the top makes sense.
Gus -- we have enough of them stupid answers to make a sane question wish it stayed under the covers on a winter day.
I love this forum! Dave

How about a Speed Bump?

How about bumps in the bonnet?
Did someone say BUMP?
G'day

BIG BUMP!
BIG BUMP!
From Oz:
Feel a bump, Mate?
I've often wondered how those gargantuan dump trucks get to where they're needed. They can't take regular roads and they sure as hell can't be air-lifted. Are they brought in piece by piece and assembled at the jobsite?
Oh. Bump.
Bump
BIG bump!
You win, John
The final big bump!
Bob C., yes they are shipped to the jobsite in pieces and assembled there. Dave
Just when you thought this thread was dead ... BUMP !!!
Its amazing: the amount of posts you people can come up with for a little concept like BUMP.
..
Ricks, that should definitely NOT be bumped to the top.
Today's Gary Owens rumor of the day: Dr. Scholl has a pad on the other side of town.
"MY mommy listens to KFWB, Channel 98!"
You reach a certain age when everything reminds you of something else.
Steve do you remember when they called KFWB channel 98 "COLOR RADIO".Late 50's early 60's when it was still a music station.
Yep, I remember that. But I have to confess that I preferred Bob Crane on KNX. Once he did an assembly in our school gym with the Adrisi Brothers. One of the students commented that they were really talented but their looks were against them. I was an odd kid. I listened to KFAC a lot.

Not a B. Mitchell Reed fan?
KMPC and Dick Whittington or was it KABC Night line with Joe Pine? Bob Crane was always late to the station, as I recall!
Bump, Bump, Dog is in need of BUMP!
Did you Whittinghill this morning? The morning man on KMPC for decades was Dick Whittinghill, former singer with Tommy Dorsey's Pied Pipers.
Sweet Dick Whittington made his biggest splash on L.A. radio on KGIL in the late sixites and KFI in the early seventies. On KFI he intitiated such innovatioins as Stupid Night, when listeners were invited to call and say something stupid. On Black Night black listeners were invited to call and "say something black". He once sprinkled Vizine out of a plane "to save Amurica by getting the reds out of Redlands". Whittington is probably unique among radio folks, once having been fired by his own mother.
Steve, Dick Whittinghill is correct. But do you remember KABC Night Line with Joe Pine?
I remember that he was on KABC, but I wasn't a listener, and I could not abide his replacement, Bob Grant. In those days my late night listening leaned to Mel Baldwin with American Airlines' Music 'til Dawn on KNX or Herb Jepko on KSL for talk, and Jazzbo Collins when he was on KFI. I just realized I'm deadly. If I listen to you on the radio, eventually you die. Of all the radio people I've mentioned here, I think Gary Owens is the only one still with us.
Steve, when I was delivering the L.A.Times in my VW back in '75, Mel Baldwin and Music till Dawn was all I listened to!... That or my windshield wipers. What was the Theme song for American airlines music 'tll Dawn.. I can still hear it in my memory... That's all, That's all.

Steve! that's IT...Thank you. Oh Yeah I forgot about Ruth Ashton and Bob Ferris on KNX during the afternoon! Do you remember what Bob Ferris's Grandad invented?
All this talk about the good days of radio is off topic for this thread.
You gotta' tune in to Phil Hendrie:
from Wiki:
The Phil Hendrie Show is a comedy talk radio program. The show is syndicated throughout North America on Talk Radio Network. It is known for outrageous guests, the majority of whom are fictional and voiced live by the host, Phil Hendrie. Though Hendrie often explains that he is doing the voices, listeners unfamiliar with the show's format are duped into believing that the guests on the show are real and are invited to call in to engage in conversation with the "guests".
-----------
He duped me the first time I heard him. The story was believable, yet outrageous.

Hey Gus can it!
Step into the Beef Box and gargle with razor blades?
Well, Steve, I'm hoping you can listen to me for awhile yet before you or I die.
Today, August 7th, 2012 2:06 PM Mountain Daylight time, www.mtpr.org click on "Listen Live."
That is Montana Public Radio, I'm in to my 18th year of doing this as part of the Folk Show. Music of the Folk, which we are. It's not me singing, it is CD's, 78's, 45's, LP's, Tapes etc., of a variety of artists. I cover the Traditional Country/Western Swing/Fiddle/Cowboy/Local Hero genre, Beth Anne does the Bluegrass and traditional Old Time on her weeks and John does the Blues & what ever else strikes us that we want to play that day. Listen in. This week I'm covering a Quebe Sisters concert, talking about and playing traditional single string fiddle players like Tommy Jackson that changed the sound of Country Music in the 50's; the state fiddle contest, etc.
BUMP just for the fun of doing it.
Oh yea back on topic BUMP
If you do listen there is an email address where you can send a note to the radio station telling them how wonderful it was and where you were listening. I might get a raise!!!! Anything would be a raise, I've been doing it free for close to 20 years. =) =)
Seriously, send a note telling them where you are listening from. We have listeners all over the world. Afganistan to Zambia.
Thank you Stan!
Is this a weekly program? Same time same station?
I only do the first Tuesday of the month now, I used to do more but I just didn't have the time and I didn't want it to get to be another job. I also used to do some specialty shows and still do an occasional one for something special. I am just about the longest time show host on the station. John and Beth Anne have been there longer than I have, nearly everybody else has moved on or retired. My first show was July 4, 1995.
It is the first Tuesday at 2:06 Mountain time, www.mtpr.org
Thanks to those who hit up the station email with nice notes. I got one awhile back from Australia. The wonder of modern technology.
Aw C'mon Stan -
I think I heard you call yourself an "old geezer".
Now I’ve heard old geezers and you surely don’t sound like one – you sound just like those good lookin’, single, well-fed, musicians that flatter & chase pretty girls and enjoy every minute of life!
Very nice program – I just wish that I could have heard some of your music….did I miss it?
Best wishes to be able to continue that show for as long as you want to host it!
Yes, it would be nice to have your retirement increased – mine too, then I’d bid on one of your carbs!
Dave
bump... now I listen to Coast to Coast!
Phil Hendrie's show has been described as Mr. Hendrie sitting in a room and having an argument with himself.
My favorite was a character named Rudy "the Latin Lover". Rudy would give advice to callers on how to be a latin lover, telling them to say phrases in spanish, that he'd translate as really romantic, but they'd actually translate out to "may a cow poop in your lap when you're not looking" or some other vaguely vulgar thing. Every so somebody would call and give the correct translation and things would just screwier from there, funny as hell.
I just had to do it!
Steve Jelf’s website brought up one of the memorable things in my past. One of them was going to bed before midnight and plugging in my single earphone, single crystal radio tuned to WLW in Cincinnati and listening to that radio show that started at midnight.
I remember that when the theme song started with the trombones sounding like airplane engines I was soon asleep.
Here is the singing of the song lyrics. http://www.myspace.com/music/player?sid=1191966&ac=now
If you will leave it on, other music will continue. I can’t say that this artist is a favorite.
My Favorite was and always will be Glenn Miller http://www.last.fm/listen/artist/Glenn%2BMiller/similarartists
That's a good one to add to your Favorites
