I keep trying to post a "want ad" but keep getting:
Internal Server Error
I have tried numerous times over the past few months with the same error every time.
By the way, Im looking for a period manufactured hitch for a T. I am building a period camper and want the build to be as correct as possible.
Michael, there have been 7 ads posted today, July 12th. Would you like me to post it for you? Any more details than above?
Chris
I have a hitch that attaches to the same bolts that attach your rear spring to the frame. Let me know your email and I will send you a photo.
Most of the period trailers and hitches I've run across have been hole and pin style (like you would use on a lawn mower to pull a little garden trailer) that I really wouldn't trust on the road. I'm not sure when ball style hitches came into wise use (40's maybe?), but I'm not sure you really want to be 'that' period correct. Especially on a camper. You might look for something from the '50's that would be safer than something from the '20's yet still have sort of a vintage look (I have a ball type hitch on a '50's trailer that I consider perfectly safe, but still looks a little wierd to a modern person who's only seen modern stuff.)
Here is a Forum Google Search link for Trailer hitches. There are some very interesting hitches that are period correct.
Regards, John

Chris thanks but what I really need is to figure out why I can't post. I am going to try again later.
Because your question got me thinking, the first forged ball and socket hitch was developed sometime after 1919 according to this:

so would probably be around, but rare in the 20's but maybe common by the '30's...
bump
Is this anything you could use?
