I drive my 26 A LOT and wouldn't mind having more light out front at night. My generator works fine and l have the Fun Projects regulator installed at this time. Do you need to run an alternator with those bulbs?
Dave,
The easiest way to look at any 'different' lamp consideration is that you have a generator tuned to not run too 'hot' in daylight, you have an ammeter, and while not exact for a bunch of reasons my advice is always 'what's your charge rate set for in daylight with lamps off?"
That defines your 'nut' and lets say it is 6 AMPS.
So, you have 6 AMPS to play with all the way around with lamps. Your blinkers, turns, stops, headlamps, etc need to add up to less than that 'nut' number...or else you'll be sucking battery juice for the ride. It's not exact but its a good safe rule of thumb.
Now...the 3rd brush allows you to set for more amps...but thats a no-no usually when talking to John R. I forget why, I just listen
Model T generator = 100 watts max.
Volts X Amps = Watts.
I tried halogen headlamp bulbs. Not much brighter (I don't think they ever are - they just keep their brightness better).
Both lost one filament in less than a year. Vibration I guess.
Back to tungsten.
