When I bought a laptop to use while traveling I got Windows machine to save money. So far I am not delighted. Is there a simple way to resize pictures on this thing? There's not always an internet connection available for the resizing websites.
I have windows XP home addition and it has a pic program on it.
Maybe the newer windows version you have has somthing similiar. The XP I have is at least 10 years old I'm sure. But its works for what I do.
Go to www.Microsoft.com and search for pic resizing in downloads. For my XP laptop, it's "ImageResizerPowerToySetup.exe , and was free.
Once it's installed you go to your list of pix, and right-click on the pic, and one option is Resize Pictures.
Steve the name of the program thats on mine is called Windows picture and fax viewer. Once the pic is uploaded on the screen the viewer has different types of picture formats you can use.
The button bar is on the bottom of each pic and you can use what you want. Maybe this will help.
Here is the easiest one to use.

There are other power toys there to, look around.
PAINT.......built right into Windows.
Also use PAINT for screenshots.
Unfortunately Windows does no come with any programs to resize Photos. If you have Microsoft Office later versions they do have a program included that will do this . I use Paint Shop Pro because it's less expensive than Photoshop and works almost as well. There are many other programs you can use for resizing but I don't know of a free one. Be careful as not all photo programs can resize. What do the rest of you guy's use?

Download PIXresizer 2.0.5
PIXresizer is a photo resizing program to easily create web and email friendly versions of your images with reduced file sizes. The reduced files are saved in a different folder, so your original images are not altered at all.
This is so easy, it's almost no fun.....
Boy, I sound like a Foreigner in my previous post . If you bought your Computer from HP Compac Dell Gateway ect.., They usually came with some kind of Photo program or such. Look through these to see if one of them will resize a Photo for you..

Paint
An old version of Photoshop Elements is more than most folks will ever need.
Unless you're a pro there isn't much need for any full blown bloatware.
Windows paint is for me, by the far the quickest and easiest to use and it comes with every version of Windows and is backward compatible to Windows 3.1.
I am with Craig. I like Photoshop. It does anything I need with any image file. I have an older version.

For just resizing, Windows Paint works fine. It is pretty basic but will work for that. I set mine on "pixels" and 420 wide to start with. That works well for most picture posting to the forum.
