Trying to make a good usable rear end for my TT. Have one compete rear and one parts of, both have broken brake shoes. Is that common? is there something that was done wrong? to cause this, or what steps would you do to try and prevent it from happening? Can they be repaired with welding? Also is anybody making axles for the TT's? mine might be usable, but their not looking to good I tell you, thanks Tom.
TT brake shoes break very easily, but is usually from mishandling when they are out of the truck or still on a rear axle assembly and being drug around. They are cast and when dropped break easily. They can be welded up, but should be done by a competent welder. No new axles, you need to find good used ones.
Tom,
The shoes break when a rear end is kicked around without the protection of the brake drum.
I have some shoes and axles. Are you coming to the Long Beach swap? I am thinking of coming from Nor Cal.

Chrysler shoes adapted for TT use.
Tom, I'll be at the Long Beach Model T Swap this weekend. I think I have at least 6 TT axles to choose from.
Thanks Scott, I will keep that in mind. Think I have come up with a good set, thanks again.
I carry used brake shoes, linings new, new springs, new brake shoe pins, and lots of used TT rear end pcs in central Missouri for the rest of you fellows who are not going to the swap meet in Calif. danuser88@ktis.net
