I am in the process of restoring a 1911 T, and I am beginning work on the firewall.
Does anyone have the measurements/specifications for a 1911 firewall?
Jim-
From what I understand John Regan makes a very nice 1911 firewall.
You can order the firewall drawing from Benson Ford Research Center. Others have gone that route.
Here's mine, that was replicated from the original.

Jim, I ordered a repop from one of the suppliers as a guide for the one I made. It was more or less correct and I did what was necessary to fit it to my chassis. I can say this. With all the careful measuring, drilling with Forstner bits (supported by wood underneath using a mill drill) veneering, staining and coating 4 times with urethane, sanding and polishing, I had more hours into it than when I built my shed. I made a lot of mistakes and had to start over more than a few times.
I was just thinking how the brass windshield and firewall were the hardest part of the restoration to date. Funny how things you think should be easy turn out to be hard. I think I'll start a post about that.
