Two members that attended the MTFCI Summer Rutland Vermont tour both live in Pine Grove, Pennsylvania. Jacque White decide to drive his T to the tour. Ernie Spittler decided to trailer his T to the tour. They both left on the same day. Jacque left at 5:00 AM and Ernie left at 6:30 AM. Ernie arrived at 1:30 PM and Jacque arrived at 2:45 PM. The total distance according to Mapquest is either 352, 367 or 375 miles. Going with the middle number, Jacque averaged 38 mph driving his Model T and Ernie averaged 52 mph by trailering his T. This is outstanding considering that much of the trip is through terrain similar to the Vermont countryside.
Kudos to Jacque! Perhaps his T is still in good enough condition to drive home again, but the Vermont hills were kind of mean to a lot of those vehicles.
It would take me longer. I don't like driving my T fast enough to average 38 mph.
A side not about Jacque and Mae is, they drive this car to all the tours they attend ( North Carolina, Tennessee, etc.). Just before this tour they attended a Model A tour in the Mid West driving their Model A to it.
Jacque usually doesn't drive that fast, but wanted to get there before registration closed.
