Saturday was the day for a local car club to have their annual “Great American Race of Kitsap County”. This year we circum-navigated
Bainbridge Island, Washington. The Kitsap Peninsula Model T Club was invited to join in.
This is a simple Time-Distance event. Everyone is give a set of instructions to follow and they try to match the Official Time as closely as possible. This year the Official Time was 3 Hours 21 Minutes and 3 Seconds which included three rest stops. The rules are simple:
Follow the instructions.
Obey all speed limits.
Don’t get lost.
Have Fun.
The race starts at my work shop.
We have a pancake and sausage breakfast to get things started.
We were fortunate to have a “Master Pancake Chef” with a secret recipe for the best pancakes ever, served in a workshop.
Driving the race is great fun. My daughter (also my navigator) and her dog came along.
We finished Third in the Pre-War Four Cylinder Class at 6 Minutes and 7 Seconds off the mark. Not bad for seat-of the-pants driving with no instruments.Model T’s came in First and Third in this class.

Congratulations Bob! Sounds like a great time. I would be very interested in getting our local club to do a Time-distance event.
I would appreciate any information/details of an event such as the one you describe.
Thanks in advance,
Orlando
