Starting restoration on my 1925 Tudor soon, purchased a new digital camera so hopefully I will be able to post some pictures with the many questions I have. Any information on posting pictures will be helpful, including best size to download pictures. Thanks for the help, Rick

Rick, I downloaded "Tiny Pic".. I don't understand it , I think most of it is in German, but it's so simple. I open it up and it only occupies a small portion in the lower left of my screen. Then I go to my pics and click on the pic I want and drag it to the tiny pics window and release it, and it's created in the same folder only a smaller file size that can be posted here or emailed easily. Easy to figure out and the computer still has your high resolution photo for future use. If that's the tudor in your profile pic, it already looks good!

I have found a good size is 400 wide by 300 high.
or put in a different way the the height is 75% of the length.
This is close to the standard 35 mm film size you get your photos printed at the store. Most of the time in this size the quality is high and does not need to be reduced much to get it under the 190kb side we're limited to here on the forum.

Here's the way I do it with this Mac.

1. Drag the intended picture to the desktop.
2. Double click on the pic on your desktop
3. Click on "tools" way on top of your screen and select "adjust size"
4. Then enter "700" in the box with the largest number, and exit the page.
5. Your picture on the desktop is now of a size that you can upload
6. follow the steps on the forum for "Upload Attachment..." and use the title of the Icon on your desktop to indicate the pic you want to upload

I think on a PC you can find the resize button in the "Edit" drop down and use 700 in the same way.. I hope this helps

Hal didn't mention it, but the Mac also tells you what the file size is going to be as soon as you enter the potential number of pixels, before you save the settings and close the file. I despise resizing pictures on my Windows machine. Talk about clunky and inconvenient! Maybe there's an easier way, but I haven't learned it yet. I'll have to try Mike's suggestion and see if that helps.

As Hal sez works great. When I download from my camera, It creates a folder on my desktop, open, click on pic, that opens Preview, click tools, click resize, I play with width and it adjusts Ht automatically, at bottom of window it will show how many Kb's the photo is adjusted to. I shoot for about 185Kb's. Close pic and dropdown will appear, hit save. Then do the rest of pics. You can also change the numbers in the folder to keep track.
