Last Saturday we had a tour in the north of Holland near Den Helder. We where there with our Roadster who did a very good job in France. After unloading from the trailer and go to the gasstation and going back to the start he [or is it she] begins to run on two or perhaps three cil. After changing coils, timer ,plugs but nothing helps .So we load the car on the trailer and we had a good day by our friends Model A .At home when I took out the spark plugs and looking to the valves, there was one intake valve who was open al the time.By opening the valve cover I could see that the valve pin was through the valvespring seat.So next time ALWAYS NEW SEATS !!!

I had that happen on a newly purchased T about 6 years ago. Being that it was on an intake valve (the same as the picture appears to show) the back firing thru the carb. was extreme. I pushed in the clutch, closed the throttle and pulled over to the edge of the road, much to my surprise the engine was quietly idling on 3 cylinders. Any attempt to open the throttle brought on a pop thru the carb. Grounding out the plug on the offending cylinder let me limp the 7 miles back home.
So far I've gone 49 years with not having any of my T's fail to get me back home under their own power.
Knock on wood - my day is probably coming.
