Can someone measure the 1912 one piece firewall and give me the measurement from the center top screw hole in the hood former to the top edge of the wood fire wall, my old firewall measured 3 3/4" center of center screw hole to the top edge of the wood would have to add for the brass moulding.I know the wore out wood firewall is not the origional from factory . I would like to get it correct as possible.

Thanks for your help! Dave

There is an easier way. The bottom edge of your hood former should be exactly 3/4" above the top surface of the frame. Lay a 3/4" board across the frame and set the hood former on top of it. If all else is as original, the hood should fit right. If the front of the hood seems low then you probably don't have the correct thickness leather pads under the radiator at the mounting studs of the radiator.

Hope this helps.

David, with a 1912 T you are fortunate, because the former can be moved around to ensure the best fit for the hood. With the radiator fitted as it should be, the hood can be placed on it and the former moved about to get the best fit for the hood at the rear. This might mean it is not quite central and not necessarily 3/4" above the frame rail. John Reagan hinted at this hood fitment when he noted that the radiator should be fitted with the correct leather pads so that it sits correctly. You have the opportunity for the best fit at the back by placing the former where it needs to be rather than where it measures up to specs.

On one of my cars the optimum position was 3/8" off centre and 3/8" higher than usual. When fitted it is almost impossible to tell it has been "adjusted".

Hope this helps.
