I just bought 3 cars and a motorcycle from an estate auction.
I only wanted one vehicle but it was a " package" sale so I ended up with a car I don't need......
1915 Model T pickup
Unrestored and in perfect shape. It appears to be a true "survivor". It is amazing for being almost 100 years old.
The engine cranks as it should.
I am going to sell it or see if a museum wants it for a year or two. This is really fit for a museum. I'm not even going to clean it.
I found a repair slip from 1981. The original service manual is also with the car.
I can't find a serial or vin # near the water intake or anywhere else. There is a # on the radiator.
I have the original plates from Pennsylvania, blue porcelain with whit letters and the PA state logo plate attached to the left side of plate as it should be. A 5 digit # is in the middle of the PA tag on the license plate.
I guess my question is where is the vin or serial #? And what is the best place to market this car.
I know Ford made 15 million of these but I believe this one is rare. I will find out how rare and I will sell it for it's real value . If it's worth $2K or $50K it's going to be sold and ASAP.
Any help would be great.
Thanks
A picture would help, this would give a better Idea of the value.
Bob
Thanks Bob
I was looking at the upper hose. I think I can find the vin/serial very easily.
I have the car in a friends warehouse.
I will take pictures tomorrow and post.
Thanks again
Karl,
Ford didn't make too many pickup's in 1915... In fact, he produced exactly none. It is likely someone added a pickup box to a roadster at some point in time, if that's what you have, and likely the box would be wooden if it were constructed in the teens.
I would like to see a picture also before casting judgement on your recent purchase!
Here is a 1915 torpedo runabout. Ford made no roadsters or pickups in 1915.
Here's an example of a VIN and a block casting date. This is from 1913, 1915 format and location is identical:
Okay, mark me down for $2K then . . .
Cranking the engine ?
Never crank an engine on any vehicle that has sat for ???
Without checking what is in the crankase, without pulling the plugs and using fogging oil, without lubing the cylinder walls ....
Sure way to wreck an engine ....
Jim
I turned it about 4 inches just to make sure it wasn't frozen.
"born at night but not last night"
Karl
John,
I know Ford didn't make a PU
I have a wooden box and Berarnd you never know.
May give you a call on that!
Karl
I have someone coming to look at it Sunday and let me know what I have and I will take some pictures for you guys. It's a beauty and right now it looks like a decent roi.
Karl
Just wondering if you are going to post pictures of your 1915 pickup.
