When I build my trailer I'll have to shop for canvas that smells like the tent my dad bought right after the war. Those of you who experienced that tent scent as kids know what I'm talking about.

Smell ??? Just go into any real Army/Navy store. When I was in the Scouts, we were using old WW2 surplus pup tents, the two shelter half type.

Steve - As I remember, that smell was even more pronounced after the sun came up in the morning and shone on that canvas for awhile! Not a particularly good smell, but not a bad smell either; just unique to canvas that had been treated some way for waterproofing I think. The canvas also had a slightly "waxy" feel to it too. Actually, maybe it was the smell of wax,.......???
