I use old upper coil points as a tag. So that the next generation know's when there are Bronze rings put in.
Toon
Great idea ! Thanks .
There ya go. Recycling with a vintage twist.
Toon,
You should have mentioned this to Ron before he came to visit. I am sure he would have brought you 500 pounds or so of old points.
Great idea !!

I too like the idea but I wonder if at some point in the very distant future if someone will find the Ford script tag and then spend hours researching which department at Ford put the tag on and what it means
It just looks so official as to be mistaken for a factory tag of some sort ha ha.
Ford remanufactured rear end. Looks like it was rebuilt in 2012
Bill ; Yes ,nearly all inside parts are new .
Toon
John, they will be arguing over whether the tag goes on the left or right, was it US only or Canadian also. Which bolthole does it go in. Etc.
Using a smaller stamp you could use a code----
RB for Rebuilt with date(RB 2012) or just brass bearing (BB 2012) or for both (RB/BB 2012). That looks good on there.
My .02 cents worth.
Bob
Sounds good to me. But what code would you suggest for a basic overhaul or rework so as not to get too confusing? That is good, but not truly rebuilt. I am working on three right now.
Drive carefully, and enjoy, W2
LOL,I wonder how many points off the Judges will give you stupidity abounds.
Toon, the bits you cut off have a good use too. I save them to use under the coil points as washers if the nuts have been done up too tightly and have made a depression in the wood.
I have 5 Ts in the shed now and find it hard to remember just what I have done in each restoration over the years. Your tags could be used to show all sorts of things, e.g. floating rear wheel bearings, modern pinion bearings, ball bearing fourth main, etc.
Allan from down under.
Anthonie ...
Great idea! I have some stamps from Dad's toolbox, I got with the T. I'll have to see if they are numbers, or alphabet, etc. I don't remember.
This brings to mind ... I must start a log of what was done when, as well. I could put a code under the year .. or simply the date... that corresponds to a log entry.
Over the top: Wonder if I should put that in a spreadsheet, save to a usb drive, and attach to the T's computer connection for future download? :-) Ummm ... not ....
