As a reminder, registration for the Canyonlands IV Tour opens on August 1, and there is a limit of 200 cars for this tour. Tour registration will be taken on a first come - first served basis, so ACT NOW and don't miss the fun!! You must submit your tour fee with the registration form in order to be guaranteed a spot on the tour. The tour fee for the car and driver is $260 and each passenger is $175. The host hotel is the Shilo Inn and room rates for this hotel are $62 per night. You can obtain a registration form by going to the Model T Ford Club International's website at modelt.org. Also, you must be a member in good standing of the MTFCI to attend this tour.

If you have any questions, contact me at (928) 526-1343.

I'm sure you mean August 1, 2012....... We're still undecided. It's an awfully long "pull" for us Michiganders.............

Joe, it is a long pull, but I can say this. Anja and I did the tour in 2009. Our pull was from St Louis, so about as far. It was worth it.

That having been said, I will add that we did it when it was an MTFCA National Tour. My understanding (and I have only done MTFCA tours, never an MTFCI tour) is that MTFCA makes tour participants jump through fewer hoops and the tours have a tendency to be better organized. Again, just hearsay. Since Russ is again in charge of this one, I have to assume that more or less the same people are organizing it, so I can still recommend it.

Dick, we almost didn't go to Richmond because of the number of cars..... Well, we went and it was great! Really laid out well, and we never waited in line once for anything! Actually, I've never had a "bad" tour. I'll keep mulling it over..........

Joe, I know of at least one person who didn't go to Richmond because of a bad experience on a big, badly organized tour. I think he regretted it later, but what's done is done. My feelings about MTFCI events is purely personal and based primarily on a bad experience with a board member. I am no longer a member of that club. Russ Furstnow and his Merry Band of Sidekicks organized the 2009 MTFCA Canyonlands Tour, and if they are organizing this one, I can heartily recommend it. It was extremely well done and we enjoyed every minute of it.

I can vouch for Russ and the Canyonlands club. They are very well organized and most of the same members who worked on the 2009 tour are on this one also.

We were on the 2009 tour and enjoyed it immensely, so we're going again.

As Russ said in an earlier post, this tour is limited to 200 Model T's and they expect it to fill up early.

For those of you from the Eastern part of the country concerned about the long distance to Kanab, There is at least one group that's having their Model T's shipped out and back on a semi to avoid trailering them. Something to consider.

See you in Kanab.....

Keith

We were on the 2009 Tour and it is tied as the 1st best vacation ever! I highly recommend this to anyone that hasn't ever toured this part of the country. . . it worth the drive to get there. In 2009 there was ONE TRAFFIC SIGNAL in the entire town. Once out of town to each of the destinations there would be stop signs but no red lights!

Oh, in case you want to know what the other tour was that's the tie - it was the Loveland, CO progressive tour - that was equally as awesome.

Kathy - I am sad to report this, but at the Rutland tour two weeks ago, Russ said that Kanab now has TWO stop lights. Progress, I guess, or maybe they're trying to impress the tourists. (grin)

Registration opened on August 1, 2012, and we have had a great response to the tour already!! The tour committee is made up of the same people that put on the 2009 Canyonlands Tour. The 2013 tour will have more events than the 2009 tour, but the routes and scenery have not changed. We will, once again have the radiator cap competition, and we will have a car show on Sunday. At this time we have over 50 car entered, so if you plan on attending this tour, PLEASE DO NOT WAIT too long to contact our registrar at canyonlands4@gmail.com.

I'm ready to go! I was on the 2002 tour, and had a great time in my old '13 touring. This time I'll go modern, in my '25 roadster pickup.

I am looking forward to going too, it will be a 2 week adventure for us. Plan on stopping at the Museum of American Speed in Lincoln, NE on the way out, and on the way home I want to do Pikes Peak in the T. Never been to Utah, so their will be a bunch of check marks on the bucket list next July for this guy.

For twenty years I have wanted to make a Kanab tour. The T clubs have been there. The HCCA has been there. Even the Nickel Age Club has been there. Family issues have always prevented me from going. I will have to see how my wife's health progresses the next couple months.
Drive carefully, and enjoy, W2

There has been considerable interest in this tour, and at this time we have 101 registered cars on the tour (There is a 200 car limit). If you want to attend the Canyonlands Tour, DON'T WAIT and be left out. Please let your friends know of the rush to register. Thanks, and I hope to see you in Kanab.
