Far from completed but I don't have to push it around anymore....thats "Improved"
That's just byooteefull!.......
Don,
If I had filmed any progress in my garage today, you would have seen my son and me pushing an old fridge past my wife's unpainted Fordor. You are putting me to shame.
You do great work!
Tom M.
Nice colour.
Don,
That is a lot of progress since our visit, very impressive. Hope to see you on the road soon. Bill
Wow Don!
Congratulations on a great job so far. Just saw some bits on your Fordor that I hope I never have to get a look at on mine! That interior Woodwork is quite a job. Is amazing just how much the doors move up and down as the chassis twists when on uneven ground. The wood squeaks as the door and body frames move up and down. all part of othe Fordor experience. you will love yours as much as I love mine, especially when the weather is bad!
Nice car Don. I like the music selection in your video too.
Thanks for the kind remarks everyone. I guess I need a "shot in the arm" now and then. The project seems fruitless at times. However, I did take the wife for a circle tour of our yard. She actually had a smile on her face as she trotted back toward the house...thats a very good sign. Warwick has a "Show quality" car there...very impressive. Mine has a 20 ft rule...looks best from no closer than 20 ft. Thanks again fellow "T'ers"...
I beg to differ Don. That body looks like a mirror from 6 feet away. It's no small feat to get a black body that smooth.
Dennis, i'm realizing the amount of work to make a "decent" paint job. I can't expect it to be perfect, that is why pro's charge such una"ford"able amounts. I can only hope for a respectable finish, and pray that anyone looking at it has passed the 40yr old mark and has forgotten their bi-focals....Thats the ticket !!!
That is an impressive paint job. Did you use urethane? If so single or double stage?
Richard this is the cheap Omni Jet Black single stage. I was told that basecoat/clearcoat is the easier way to go. I do like the single stage for spot painting it seems to blend in nicely. It is acrylic enamel.
I am looking forward to completing the restoration of my 27 Fordor. Its currently in 1001 pieces.
Don, if that's your car in the you tube video at the top, anybody who tries to pick that paint job apart needs more than glasses.
Don't forget when you get around to doing the top that the headliner has to go in first. Do you still have the original dome light (and the switch) that only the 4 door cars had?
Hi Dennis, thanks for the complement that is very kind of you. And yes I actually plan to do the interior sides first then the headliner and then the top can be put on. I do have the original stock dome light switch and even found the switch trim. Which by the way looks exactly like a grommet from a tarp. The switch needed to be cleaned before it would work again. I do not have the dome light. I've been trying to get good info on the original light but they were made by several different companies and no real way to know what was there. So far I've been able to repair all the electrical switches and light fixtures. The tail light was my biggest challenge, the spring pin was missing and I had to come up with a way to get good contact after several attempts I think I have it....fun stuff !!!
Don,
Here is a few pictures of our dome light and switch. The car is a 1924 Canadian Fordor but I believe that all the Fordor dome lights were the same 1923 - 1927. Also a link to a previous Forum discussion. Regards, John

Excellent John !! I know now what to shop for at the swap meets. Nice pictures and good information also. I have the exact switch and trim piece, which I almost mistook as a grommet and tossed out a while back. I was advised by a restorer to "Don't throw ANYTHING away" while working on the old Liz....he was right! Thank you very much for your help on this...
Although I did not ask you, you have helped as I do have the correct dome light but an unsure about the switch that i now have.
Don, keep an eye on ebay, I have seen lights very similar to the one that John Page posted on there in the past. Dave
Thanks Dave, I will. Andrew here is a picture of the dome light switch. It is grounded to the car frame via a copper strip to the window frame. Hope this helps...
